Hey guys, I'm posting for my roommate. He has a 2014 JKU Sport and after wheeling a few days ago, there's been a constant metallic squeak coming from his rear passenger side wheel. We attempted to fix it by disassembling the pads and rotor and clean them but it didn't help. It's a pretty constant sound and most notable when it's in reverse. Any suggestions on what to try next?
Well we checked the backing plate and it wasn't bent and there wasn't any rocks caught in there. We disassembled the brakes, rotor, and backing plate then pressure washed and wd-40d what we could. Still no luck. And he left to go back the Memphis for a week, says he's takin it to a shop. I'll keep y'all posted.
It's a metal on metal sound. Like a rock is stuck in the rotor and brakes. Its not a consistent sound and varies. Really odd. It's most noticeable when it's in reverse. I honestly couldn't say what else it would be outside of an axle problem.
Just talked to him, will be posting a video of the sound tomorrow.
