So you're asking us if you should get a 2 door or a 4 door? Hmmm, will this be auto or manual trans? Soft top or hard top?

Club WILLYS

From a looks standpoint, the look like Rubicon's....except they say Willys instead of Rubicon on the hood. They are Sports with Rubi rims/tires/rockrails, and a few other pre-selected option. A good buy if you want the look but don't need all of the features.

dagg- i didnt say anything about buying a 2 door?? i said i didnt know the willys came in 4 door. i know what i want just looking at the trim levels.

panther- thats what has my intrest, i would not use the rubicon features whole lot to really justify buying them but i like the looks of the rubicon alot better so if i got one that was my plan buti see willys has more of the look with out all the features

Precisely why I went with the Willys; liked the look, the 32" tires, black wheels, dana 44 rear with 3:73 LS gear, heavy duty suspension, rock rails and so forth but I really don't need a dana 44 front axle, sway bar disconnects and 4.0 low crawl ratio TC. Willys is a good "medium duty" 4x4, an excellent compromise between a sport and Rubicon.

The way you wrote it lead me to infer you were buying a 2 door, but was considering switching to a 4. If all you want is the look, it would be more cost effective to buy a Sport. Then you could buy Rubicon tires/wheels and rock rails from CL at a fraction of the cost.

The basics of the Willys is the Sport. HD suspension is nothing more than gas shocks.

I'm sure Fields has a couple Willys on the lot, but most of us had to order them. Check out Club Willys for a ton of good info, pretty sure someone above already pointed you in that direction.

Congrats man! Great news!

On a side note, there is no such thing as getting a Jeep "on the cheap" Take a look at used prices, they are almost the same as new.

The good news will be, you'll have 2 kids to enjoy the ride when you finally get one!

If you plan to keep it stock, then stick to your Willys plan. If you are going to add a lift and tires/wheels at some point. It would make a lot more sense to start with a Sport. The Willys is just a Sport with different shocks, tires/wheels, and rock rails. (oh and stickers)

If your dealer is against ordering, then he should not be YOUR dealer. I shop many dealers when buying a new vehicle, and if any are not willing to place a special order, they immediately get crossed off the list and I never shop there again.

Very well said. If you're gonna do a bunch of upgrades better going with a Sport.

That may be true, but keep in mind...there will ALWAYS be a market for Rubi/Willys takeoff parts. One could recoup most (if not all) of the price of the Willys package by selling the shocks, springs, wheels, tires, and rails. What you are left with is options that would have cost you much more to get on the sport without the Willys package (in the case of the 23W that is...).

You're correct for the most part. I chose to go with the Willys due to the fact that I'm going to keep it stock for a year or two while I really learn how to off-road.

From everything I've learned on this forum, my Jeep is going to be able to do A LOT more than I will be able to do. Hell, even a base Sport can probably get me anywhere I need to go! In fact, I know it can.

As I get myself all "learned up", I'll upgrade to things I'll need/want.

If your plan is similar to mine than the Willys is absolutely a better way to go than a Sport. If you were to try and add everything into a Sport that the Willys comes with, you'll see it's actually a bit of a discount - assuming you're using Mopar parts, and you have a factory warranty on everything.

same plan...and same reasons for purchasing the willys. my point was that getting a base sport if you are planning on upgrading isn't the only way to go. the resale market for the take off parts make them a viable option. plus you get the benefit from them while you are in the "stock" learning phase.
