JKUR10A vs ford focus, road rage fail vid

Hi Fellow Jeepers,
A little rant since I had a good shake up this morning. A guy road raged into me with his ford focus. He cut in front of me and then slammed on his brakes. Old jeepers don't play that, so he hit me, once cutting into my lane, and 3 more times when he was slamming on his brakes. the last time i busted out his back window **

The crash is 40 seconds into the vid..

So you would think that rear ending someone, you are always at fault... yeah.... but.... I have dash cam video :lmao:

So, when the cops showed up I had the video, and they gave the other guy a ticket.

We spend so much time and money on our Jeeps and jerks on the road can wreck it so fast with so little regard.

Drive safe and have a great Memorial Day weekend!

crazy, what was his main malfunction?

I didn't talk to the guy in the ford focus, no need to contact someone who acts like that.

I have a few scrapes and scratches on my 10th Anniversary bumper, very rare that 10th Anniv bumper, i think his insurance may have to give me a check for a new very rare 10th A bumper, (err... for other mods) :)

Peace out and be safe on the road

Some people are ridiculous. I have never seen anything like what the Fiesta driver did. What are some people thinking?

And what set up are you running for a dash cam?

cutting off RockyMtn was aggressive but i don't think it was road rage. right when the yellow focus was changing lanes the white truck stepped on his brakes then immediately the audi did too. i think the yellow focus then instinctively slammed on his brakes seeing that, not realizing how close RockyMtn was to him. when the focus kept slamming on the brake after first impact i think it was just instinctive and not road rage.

again i don't think it was road rage per se, just aggressive driving. now it bit the guy in the ass, literally!

There's got to be more to this story. You did absolutely nothing to initiate his behavior?
Hmmm...
watch the full video, what else is there? I don't swerve it and out of lanes. Do you see the other vehicles in the video? No. I wasn't playing games with him. He cam eout of no where. I am a zen driver, slow and steady. I merge into the left lane because gravel trucks get on the highway there, and they have trashed 3 windshields.

I respect your thoughtful critique

RockyMtn - job well done. glad to see another person with a dash cam. i also have one of those chinese cheapo ones from Gear Best (it was literally $34 lol). i actually just bought a vantue one to replace it but it still works great. i just want more of a wide angle, high resolution video, and the motion sensor activate

Holy crap. What a jerk ass driver!
But I will say that you were fine rambling down the road in the right lane. Not sure why you moved to the left lane.
I'm going to wager that the little yellow car driver was speeding along, already frustrated, then you moved to the left. "in front of him"
It's not an excuse for him to do that, but likely the reason that a jerk would endanger himself and others by pulling this crap ass move.

My first thought was that he was in the #1 lane and when you merged over you cut him off,,,,,did you?

At that road, gravel trucks enter the highway. I have replaced 3 windshields due to stones flying off those trucks.
I merged over, maybe he didnt' like that. But I didn't run into him when I merged over, and he had no right to ram in to me.

he did not ram into you, but he did brake when he was in front of you. The video does not show what was happening in your rear view mirror. He is at fault, but there are 3 sides to this story.

jesus people. STFU. Who knows what happened other than what you saw here. Ass hat in the yellow shit box signaled and moved over with less than 10' between his rear bumper and Rocky's front bumper. in any city, in any county, in any state in this united states of america... that deserves a beating.

1. If he cut him off (on purpose or otherwise) it is not LEGAL to cut the offender off like the yellow douche bucket did. I agree the continued braking looked more like a young driver panicking than intentional.

2. Rocky - delete or ask a mod to delete your statement about "mods". Trust me. As a guy who got ****ed by his ex wife's attorney for writing something truthful but derogatory about her on Facebook? Delete it.

I appreciate what you're saying, and if he had stated something that was an attempt to defraud an insurance company I'd agree. But there's no reason he couldn't do exactly what he stated, and even tell the insurance company. It is their responsibility to pay for a damaged item to be repaired or replaced. It is not the victim's responsibility to actually repair or replace it.

Most people would rather have the work done and the INS company pay the body shop for it; that way if the shop finds more damage after they go into it the INS is still on the hook, whereas if you just get a check from the INS up front they're done with you. So that's typically how accident damage is handled.

But you can, and I have, ask for a check for the estimate. I once used a $700 insurance check from the at-fault party's INS to buy a compressor, paint gun and all the accoutrement, DA sander, and all the painting supplies needed. Then I got a friend with body work skills to pull the fender out and bondo it up smooth for 50 bucks (this was the mid-eighties, in college). In the end I wound up with good tools and a skill set AND a repaired fender. I finally junked the Campbell Hausfield compressor in 2016 after 30+ years of faithful service. And I'll be using the paint gun next week to spray Jeep parts. :)

So yes, I fixed the fender with the proceeds; but it would have been equally legal for me to leave the left-front fender crunched and drink $700 worth of beer (I think I was 21 at the time) with the INS proceeds.

Yeah, people come up with scenarios that are not in video. Look at the video and see what it is. The first 40 seconds I am in my lane driving the speed limit I move over into the left land and set off another driver. Not my fault. He took aggressive actions which didn't end favorably for him.

First, its great nobody was hurt except some bruised egos. Second, the last big hit looks like you had a part of the grand finale hit. Bad part is that you guys are now acquainted and know a lot more about each other than you might have wanted to. Guess those tiny pos cars shouldn't pick on the big bad JK.

I don't think we are defending the guy in the focus. Instead, we are just having to speculate because we aren't being provided all the possible views. If you drive any vehicle, you'll understand that the view you need to constantly check, isn't only that out the front windshield.

If there were two wrongs here, it doesn't make either party 100% right (innocent).

Re visiting the video this morning, the only thing that I can see as a possibility for his cray-cray-crazy behaviour is maybe when you changed lanes at 00:35, then perhaps you encroached upon his personal space? Just speculating, and you certainly weren't aggressive about it. At any rate, there is no way in hell that dickhead pox box had any justification for putting you in that position.

Thanks MrCarCrazy for the info; I like those cameras.

Thank you everyone for your honest opinions, even those that question my driving.

Lets say I did cut the focus off, which I didn't. I didn't hit him when I changed lanes, I didn't slam on my brakes in front of him, but he did. That is not what you do if someone cuts you off, and in reality I can change lanes and other drivers need to deal with it. People cut me off all the time, but I don't brake check them and cause a collision.

The dash cam is a life saver in this instance. I would completely be at fault if I didn't have the dash cam. It does only give a limited perspective, but watch the video leading up to crash, you never see the yellow car. I wasn't playing cat and mouse with him.

and THAT is the entire crux of the matter. Moron in the rollerskate absolutely deserves the mashed tinfoil, ticket, and higher insurance premiums. Also deserves the ass beating that he graciously did not get.
