JKUW Grille Fitment Question after installation of Tuffy Hood Lock 292

JKUW Grille Fitment Question after installation of Tuffy Hood Lock 292

********************

I originally asked this question on the Willys Club thread but want to pose to the general forum and expose it to a larger audience:

I installed a Tuffy hood lock (#292). To do so, removal of the front grille was necessary. Overall the installation was straight forward, and the lock actually does what is advertised.

Now for the problem: Upon reinstalling the grille, I find that the left hand edge (from the perspective of the driver's seat) does not align properly; there is a bit of a gap between the grille and the left most body -panel, maybe a 1/4 of an inch. The right side is perfectly aligned. So, it seems to appear that there is an obstruction or that a bottom latch did not re-seat properly. I removed and reinstalled the grille again, with the exact same results.

So, did I make a mistake when reinstalling the grille, or was the gap from the factory and I just failed to notice it?

Bump

I was messing with this again last night. At this point, I may just end up doing more harm than good.

Oh that combination feeling of relief and embarrassment arising from self inflicted dumb@$$ery.

Setting up some lights to take pictures, I found and solved my problem: a clip I had missed.

My apologies to all for wasting bandwidth and time.
