JP Magazine Spy shot

This is a shot of the B40 in China. JP is thinking it could be the '15 Wrangler. if it is, you might as well start waving at the Cherokees if you don't already.

I believe that is a knock-off "jeep". However, just because I believe it, don't make it so.

The Chinese have all kinds of crazy vehicles that knock-off western and European designs that people outside of China never hear about. UK's Top Gear did an excellent show on it.

Jeeps, made by Chrysler, are very expensive in China and are a huge status symbol.

The Jeep brand of clothing (liscenced there) is also high end.

To get a new, Toledo-made JKU over there is north of $100K.

Plus their market is growing fast, so that's why corporate is looking at how to make Jeeps there for sale there.

Buick also enjoys a high-end reputation there too.

Edit: adding a link about the $180K Jeep, lol. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-0...s-tariffs.html

Edit 2: I can't find the one with the rich boy Jeep parked in front of the designer clothing store (the JKU). Maybe it's on my phone.

Edit 3: Here it is in another context (trade and tarriffs) http://www.nytimes.com/2011/12/09/bu...anted=all&_r=0

Anyway, my oldest works there, and thinks the knock-offs are funny.

Maybe they do know the difference, but don't care as long as it sells more magazines or gets more visits to their website.

In many Eastern countries, the tariff is 100% or more of the vehicle value.
I was trying to sell my Mustang GT Convertible, the only one in Malaysia at the time -- but the tariff was pricing out even some of the (individuals with honorific titles). I ended up shipping it home, and the engine blew a month later -- so in some regards, I am glad I didn't screw some local over.

All I can say is it looks great. The headlights and front end bring it into the modern world without too much compromise.

But like you guys said... there's way to much iffy stuff going on for this to possibly be legit.

There are certain aspects of that vehicle I like, especially those halfdoors with that bar.

notice the lack of a 7 slot grill. they ran into legal issues because the 7 slot grill is owned by Chrysler.

these companies get sued all the time.

How do you sue a company in China? It isn't like the Chinese government is going to make them stop or cooperate with the legal system from another country.

It is a BAIC B40.

I like the look of the flat paint tho in this shot. Thinking about doing my JKUR in a similar (but sand) effect.
