Just a little more power

We have an 07 Sahara with 33's 2" lift and a few more modifications. As far as overall performance, it has managed Steel Bender, Poison Spider in Moab, and dozens of trails in Colorado. The power of this 3.8 is not bad but I want to build a small trailer to carry camping gear and such and I'm worried about pulling long distances as I travel from Louisiana. Any suggestions or concerns about triyng to get more power from this eginne for trailer pulling or should I be satisfied with what I have? Thanks in advance for all your advice and concerns.

You probably have stock gearing, most likely 3.73s or worse, 3.07s, and re-gearing would give you an honest boost in power. 4.56 would be a good gear for your tire size.

+1 for regear. It's expensive, but it's still the best bang for the buck option. You can upgrade the diffs while you're in there as well.

x3 on the gearing.

Don't waste $$ on CAI or exhaust mods.

Another option would be a tuner, such as the Superchips or Hypertech. They'll give you a little more oomph, but I don't think it would help with towing.

Plain and simple, your Jeep came from the factory seriously undergeared. Fix that and you'll maximize what you got.

"Man this guy is such a noob" question here <------

So, can someone explain in a little more detail about the re-gearing? I was thinking about power modifications last night myself. I would think that re-gearing would help power, but hurt fuel economy. On my old Turbo Cobalt I had a custom tune that took me from stock 260/260 hp&tq to 320/340 hp&tq and my fuel economy improved as well... different vehicle, different situation I know, but that was only a sub $300 fix for that car. I'm guessing because this is naturally aspirated that tuning doesn't do quite as much. I'm not looking for more trailering power, I'm just wondering about overall "get me out of this sh*t" power.

Thanks for not calling me slow.... or if you do, at least answering the question first!
