Just bought a JK!!

So i just bought my 2010 2door jk and am wonderin who has the best 2.5-3 inch lift for the money as I am on a tight budget.

this will be an opinion question and I do understand being on a budget. Do you want to "just lift it", or wheel it after you lift it? That is something to figure into your equation....there are a lot of threads on here about lifts, and I am not telling you to search them. My experience is a little bit of a waste as I have not lifted the JK YET!!! Just the TJ..and I waited and went OME as I feel for the money, and overall performance it was the best for me.

But I also prefer to do it once, do it right, and be done with it. If you are thinking you may end up with 35s or 37s you probably don't want a "cheap" lift unless you never go off road, and don't need the flex.

If you can't afford to break anything, you probably can't afford 35" tires, which will cost you close to $3K for a regear, new tire carrier (with or without a new rear bumper), sleeve and gusset job on your front axle.

I'd stick with the 33" tires for now. You can always move up in tire size at a later date if you get a good 2.5" lift, which will allow you to run up to 35" tires.

If you go over a 3" lift, you'll be getting into the realm of needing front and rear adjustable control arms, adjustable track bars, and at least a new front driveshaft.

My advice: Don't buy a cheap lift just for looks. You're changing the geometry and handling characteristics of a cinderblock that'll go 70+ mph. Spend your $$ on a good lift. TeraFlex, Rock Krawler, Full Traction are a few.

You can do 33's on stock gearing, but you will lose a good amount of power with 35's and stock gears. You should look for light tires to reduce this repercussion if you don't plan on regearing. 33 duratracs on 15's are light and so are 35 bfg all terrains on 15's. There is a vender selling a 3" zone kit with shocks and sway bar links for $430. If you are looking for an intro kit for some light to moderate wheeling that might be good to look into

congrats on your jk!! it's going to be a lot of fun but having a tight budget is going to get very hard sometimes...especially if you catch the modding bug like every jeep owner gets...lol

Right, tight budgets and wanting to mod your rig sucks. I have 2 kids, along with all other bills, and have to wait for "extra" money we weren't planning on to do my modding. Gonna be a slow way to go.

Kolector your Jeep looks like a monster truck lol, helluva nice rig! Congrats man, your going to love all the little things you can do to it!!! I'm doing the lift in the next month or so as well, happy hunting it is a daunting task researching pics and spacing and rims and tires that will create the look your trying to produce

You could do a 2in spacer lift that will only set you back a couple hundred bucks.

If you like budget for wheels/tires go to 15". So much cheaper. You can buy the tires and wheel for about what 17's cost

If your are on a budget, I would definitely go with 33's. Once you get to 35, you will need to regear to get your power back and also you need to gusset and sleeve you axles. I would even suggest gusset for 33's but not a must.

To do 35's right, it is costly.

Isn't Jeep and budget a oxymoron?

On a spacer lift, you typically get what is advertised. You get more than advertised lift on most coil kits because they are built to hold up to the weight of added armor, bumpers, racks, etc.

If you are wanting to be budget minded right now and want to have a little more room for 33s, then the Teraflex leveling kit is a great way to go. 2" in front and 1" in rear. Looks great with 33s in my opinion. Plus, it can be had for around $120 shipped. When the time comes that you want to move up in tire size, yank off the leveling kit and recoup probably 75% of the initial investment.

Here is what the leveling kit looks like with 33s.

I think i have decided on the rough country 3.25 inch lift and 35's on my stock wheels with spacers. Anyone got pics of this set up?
