Just Bought My Sahara, Could Use A Little Advice...

Hey guys, this is my first post on here...
just bought a 07 Sahara 8300 miles, was able to convince the dealer to throw the Rubicon tire package on there, big help.. and i could use a little advice...

I wasn't able to get mine with a hard top, so im planning on buying one within the next month or so... ive done a bit of research and basically found 2 tops, the factory freedom top, and the bestop 2 piece... i like the bestop quite a bit, but haven't heard anything about it... anyone have any experiences with it, or even some advise on another possible solution??

I'm looking into some off road lighting, going to add 2 lights with the windshield mounts, don't want to change the bumper or anything too extreme, just want some good looking black lights with some nice vision... any brands stand out as exceptional?

How water-resistant is this thing, electronics/speaker wize?????
Rain Proof with the top down? Hurricane Proof? i live in south florida..ha

Wanted to do the Bed Liner, looked into hurculiner and other do it yourself liners... Spray on, or Roll on??

Anyone know how large of tires i can put on this thing without any kind of lift?? if necessary for larger tires, is a body lift worth looking into??

I know this is a lot of questions, any little bit of advise would be greatly appreciated...
thanks much, looking forward to this forum!

I don't really have an answer for this but I am curious as to why you feel the need for a hard top. I purchased my jeep with a hard top, bought a soft top 3 months later and the hard top has been taking up precious real estate in my garage ever since. I'm selling it this fall.

Look at 4wheelparts.com or quadratec.com and narrow down your preferences, then post them on the forum to get opinions.

Your Jeep is pretty much waterproof, but I don't think that you should be letting the electronics get wet. Instead of the hard top look into a trail cover. That way you can leave the top down and not worry about it getting too wet inside.

There are some great threads on here about this subject. You will have more control with the brush or roll on liners but it is a matter or choice. Personally I like the way that the Monsta-liner (sp?) looks when applied.

TJ owner here so I can't really help you with that one, but there are quite a few threads dedicated to it. One thing I do suggest is that you take it out on the trail stock and get an idea of what it is capable of. I would stay away from body lifts and maybe go with spacers if you feel the need but I think that you will find your Jeep is quite capable stock. If you are going to be running in the sand, don't forget to air down your tires first. Just make sure that you re-inflate before hitting the hard surface again.

Hope that some of this was helpful and again welcome.

Pakman, her's is an Unlimited...

SaharaCon, welcome to the forum
JD pretty much covered the answers to your ?'s... HT's really aren't needed unless you just really like them. They need 2 people to install/remove and take up a lot of space when removed. Plus, when it's installed, you have to store the soft top...
I think 32's are as big as you can go, tire size without lifting a JK... And yes a coil spacer lift is preferred by most over a body lift. Costs are similar.
As far as water goes, I'm pretty sure the only thing you really have to worry about getting wet is the clockspring in the steering column... the stereo might freak out till it gets dry, but then I think they're ok... Not sure on JK's tho.

Never fear, one of our JK experts will be in here soon to straighten out everything I said that was wrong...

Don't forget to wave!
