Just installed remote start for only 99 bucks!

Hey guys not sure if any of you know but on ebay there is a seller selling fortin remote start kits which are plug and play for only 100 bucks! I just installed on and it works great! Also works with factory key! Can't complain about that!

Thanks for the "heads up". I went to Ebay, found it, and watched the installation video. Seems like a nice inexpensive solution. What is the range of reception on the remote start?

I have a 2014 and went ahead and bout it anyway... Seems to work fine even though it's not listed... The range is the same as it would take to unlock or lock the vehicle... Not to bad can't complain... Would I like it to be longer? Yes but it's not necessary

Looks interesting. Video could be a little more specific on all the cables he messes with though.

Kind of hard to remotely depress the clutch.

Great find, thanks for posting.

It is absolutely awesome that it uses you existing Jeep key.

One question; if you get in and want to drive within the 15 minute run time of the remote start, how does that work?

I went with the dball, $90 with shipping on Ebay, looks similar. The harness is just before the key. Install took all of fifteen minutes. Read the manual before purchasing, some of the optional programming is awesome, and the seller will flash for you

I would like to know this as well. mjct208, is there some sort of manual override should you decide you want to drive before the 15 runtime?

I was thinking the same thing, but if you leave your car in neutral and put the e-brake on you can install a remote starter for stick

Can I get a Remote Car Starter on A Manual Transmission?

I assume the same way the OEM unit works. While its running, you just insert the key, turn it to accII, and it disables the remote start clock and the jeep stays running normally.

Yeah you just unlock it and put the key in turn it on like normal nothing happens because it's already running... Put your foot on the brake shift it into drive and it's like normal... The 15 minutes is just an automatic shutoff

Does this one automatically turn on the heat/AC like the OEM version?

I know, that is the first thing I scanned the auction for. I have the 6 speed. I guess I will be getting a Viper.

Yes. From what I understand, there is zero difference in functionality between this and the OEM remote start. The programming seems to be the same, just that this uses an aftermarket module to trigger the remotestart sequence rather than the Mopar one. The only difference I can see is using the lock button vs the remote start button on the remote.

I wonder if you hooked up an on/off switch to disable/enable the clutch safety switch, if it would then work on a manual?

It will only put on what was previously left on... Like if you left it on full blast heat... That's what will come on it will not automatically adjust

Thanks for sharing! It looks great! I don't even "need" one and I'm very tempted.

I'm assuming since you have to push the knob in to turn on the A/C that even if you turn the Jeep off with the A/C running and temp control all the way on cold that it won't activate the A/C on remote start.

Is that right?
