The US would have cheap gas prices too if we didn't have nearly 2 cars for every 1 person, and if the oil companies were state run like they are in Saudi Arabia.

Supply and demand and capitalism is what keeps our prices higher.

Unfortunately you are 100% right but oil is miscategorized as a commodity...it should be catagorized as a necessity, and controlled by the govt. because Oil companies have deomonstrated over and over their lack of true fairness in capitalist ventures. They continue to manipulate market factors in order to keep prices inflated. And they are all in bed together.
