JW Speaker 8700s

Purchase a set of used JW Speaker 8700s from a member on this forum. I feel like a got a great deal on them. These are the not the evos which I figured they might be since they were priced right. I prefer the glass lenses anyway. That being said, these things are awesome. What a huge difference compared to the factory lights, not to mention they look cool too. There is a "very very" minimal flicker when at idle, but unless I am really looking for it I don't notice it. If it ever bothers me, I will either buy an SMS harness or build my own. I don't think it would be that big of a deal to do it.

As for the install, I chose the more complicated way of installing. Since I got a good deal on the 8700s I decided to mod them to fit instead of the light bucket. I trimmed (using a dremel tool) off 3/4" of 4 of the heat sinks that get in the way of the air bag trigger sensors and 1/16th of an inch of the aluminum lip of the housing between the trimmed heat sinks. I primered the exposed aluminum and then painted with matching black paint. I will post pics of it later as it is on a different camera, but it turned out pretty good.

I also had to trim out the factory head light rings. Fortunately the guy I bought them from included a pair that he had already trimmed out. I have a drum sander so cleaned up what he had already started and everything mounted right in. I broke the original ones while removing them but figured I was going to use them anyway so no big deal.

The results are fantastic and very much worth the effort. I am sure the Evolutions would have been an easier fit, but for the price savings it was worth it.
