KBB finally posted 2011 trade in values and...

I always like to keep up with depreciation on vehicles. I've had my eye out to see what the 2011 trade in values would look like, given the changes in the 2012 model and just the overall value of wranglers over time. I was surprised to see that kbb values my trade in at the same amount I paid for it new 5 months ago: $34,000. I thought, and still think, I got a good price for it originally, but nothing out of the ordinary. What do you bet I would get no where close to this if I traded in for a 2012 Rubicon!? If I could, it would be a no brainer to trade in, IMO. For whatever reason, Jeep dealerships love to use autotrader for values. Well, I know the reason. It's usually by far the lowest value available between kbb, blackbook pricing, nada, etc.

Anyone get any dealer quotes for 2011 trade in on what they would offer as a trade-in versus what kbb lists? I'm just curious, as Autotrader still says it's unable to give pricing on 2011 wranglers. I'm sure it would be about $30,000 if kbb is $34,000 .

It wouldn't make sense for a dealer to give you what you paid for it in trade. Then they would have to try and sell it for more as a used vehicle, than they did as a new vehicle? If you paid 34k for it a few months ago, it's probably worth no more than 30k.

Bought my 2011 jku base sport for 25900 and traded it 3 months later for 23000 with 3k miles. Just to give an idea of the depreciation. Could have been worse I guess.

For all the folks that said 07-11 wranglers value would fall off the face of the planet because the 3.8 is garbage and nobody's going to buy them

I agree that it sounds crazy at first glance but I have actually had it happen before. Similar situation but it was a lexus. Purchased at great price and trade in was actually the same as my purchase price. I don't mean fudging numbers either. By that I mean when you are told you are getting a great trade in then magically you have to pay sticker price on the new car.

I have no idea why but I know some people hate to call their jeeps "cars," but "car" is just another word for "vehicle." Car is "see automobile," which is below...

"A self-propelled passenger vehicle that usually has four wheels and an internal-combustion engine, used for land transport."

With that being said, you drive a car and so do I, like it or not...

No offense here! Since when is "car" a negative term?

When you refer to a Wrangler as one.
