Hey guys, I've looked at all kinds of threads and have gotten all kinds of different answers on the proper way to set this up.

I currently have a u Connect 430 in my Wrangler, and I just purchased a Kenwood eXcelon DDX9902S. According to crutchfield I only need this: Axxess ASWC-1 Steering Wheel Control Adapter Connects your car's steering wheel audio controls to select aftermarket car stereos at Crutchfield.com

Now I'm very certain that I need more than this. I just want to keep my satellite radio and steering wheel controls. I want to be able to make bluetooth calls as well, but I don't care about uConnect enough to want to keep it if there's a better option.

Anyone have experience with this unit and know what all I need? I tried my best to not need this thread, and the one I looked at the most is this one: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/kenwood-ddx9902s-install-1598185.html Which I'm pretty sure is a good enough guide...but I want to be certain on the parts; the part that confused me was that he got a tuner and an adapter for his old SiriusXM antenna.

Thank for the help guys!!!

Ive not used that set up, however for your satellite radio - You WILL need a sirius/xm tuner to plug in the back of your HU. As your Kenwood is NOT S/XM built-in, just "ready." I would get either the SAT-1 iDatalink satellite antenna adapter (to use your OE XM antenna to the new S/XM tuner) or theres also a FARKA antenna adapter (that I have) you could use.

Personally I would go get a PAC RP4-CH11 to link the OE plug to the HU wiring. The Axxess just doesnt look "good" to me. Im particular and know people have A LOT of success with their products. Im just more comfortable with the PAC.

However to use the Axxess - you should have a wire set going into the Axxess from the OE side (Should have a matching plug to the OE so its just plug and play) and one going from the Axxess to the Kenwood. The one to the HU will need to be spliced in. Then plug the 3.5mm end into your wired remote plug and should be good.

I installed a Kenwood DDX-8901HD in my '15 JKU with the IDataLink Maestro interface. The 8901 is last year's model of the 9902. I have the factory Alpine speaker system and the new head unit was an incredible upgrade in sound quality. I used IDatalink because I wanted the gauges (very cool) and complete factory integration......and everything works as before. It costs a little more than the other interfaces, but I think it's worth it. I kept UConnect because I've never had any issues with the system and it still works just fine...factory mike works as well. Also added the Sirius tuner and SAT-1 cable for ease of installation (and yes the factory sat antenna works great). Hope this helps.
