I would say don't believe everything you read until a contract is sitting in front of you and you are about to sign it. I've seen many dealers show this or that special and then find out they grouped every rebate in existence together and you don't qualify for half of them right off the bat.

True, if you even get the $6K off! Remember people are getting 2% or better off Invoice on 2012's. A 2011 is now 1 year old, then you have a better engine, and in some cases a better transmission too. Is it worth the $3000+/- or even less you'd really be saving on the 2011? I'd pass.

My buddy just bought a 2011 'special' Rubi JK, no power, bottom of the JK options list....said "$33" for his package.....less trade in, less cash gave him zero miles 2011 Rubi for $15k"....seems like a decent deal.

I work for a new car dealer, and you will get the full $6K off if you qualify for all rebates. In the case of Jeep, there is the standard $1K, a military rebate, a USAA rebate, and perhaps a previous lease rebate.

The fine print includes you financing the Jeep with them...take a guesss where they make up the front-end giveaway!

Haha yea it all depends on the trade and cash...I put 240k down on a ferrari f430 and got it for less than 20k - why would you ever get a jeep!?

Maybe you see it differently but the fact is some are on the road for close to a year now. Sure a saleman is going to tell you its new and has no miles on it. The fact still remains the 2012's are on the road now.

I got my 2011 Sport "S" a month ago.

Traded in a beat up Frontier Crew Cab, took the cash back and got 1.99% from a Credit Union. Maybe its a year old but its still new to me. I frankly didn't know about the 'new' motor, so bad on me for not doing due dillagence/research , BUT I did get the exact set-up and colour I wanted so I'm happy . Just saying. BTW I NEVER believe things I read in Ad's.....sooooooo much little tiny type missing that grabs your ass in the end.....MHO as always.

It is a new 2011, and its new to you, I'm not bashing, I'm stating a point that's all. People buy for different reasons, in my case I want to avoid Direct Injection as long as possible, others want a cast iron push rod engine, others are buying price and don't want the newest, latest and greatest, or don't like some other changes to the new MY. LOL to each his own!

Let me put it another way, strictly for discussion purposes, and nothing more. If the last 2011 came off the line Friday, and Monday the first 2012 came off the line, the 2011 is one still one MY older than the 2012. That's all I'm saying, now I put it another way, perhaps clearer. [Yes I realize there might be some down time between MY, its just an example]. As long as a person is happy with their choice who cares?

Intensive purposes or intents and purposes?

Resale value is based on the MY and calendar year. In 2013 the 2012 will be one year old, not two. Some calendar years don't have a corresponding MY. For example, the last YJ MY was 1995. In 1996 they sold 1997 TJ's. In 1998 some of those 97's were in fact 2 years old. That doesn't decrease the value (though any excess mileage would)

Yes, you are correct that a 2011 will always be a "MY" older than a 2012. That doesn't always mean anything. Yes there is a powertrain difference in this case. Another example is that I bought a "new" 2008 Liberty in February of 2009. There is virtually no difference betwen the 08 and 09.

LOL. I also own a 2008 Liberty, and when the 2009 came out, which was almost an exact clone, my 08 was 1 model year older, and worth less money. As soon as a new model year comes out the prior year has lost value, and is one MY older. It is the nature of the beast. Yes resale value is based on the calendar year and the model year, new models don't come out January 1. IIRC Galves updates trade values monthly? Miles and condition will also help with value, and if they don't do any major changes as in the case of the Liberty you're better off.

In the case of the 2011 Wrangler vs. the 2012, you'll take more of a hit, especially if you own an automatic tranny version. That's life and technology, years ago with computers it would drive you nuts if you let it.

Kudos on checking my grammar, no one is perfect. I think we pretty much agree on this topic though.
