Lack of OEM 3rd brake light replacements

I have poured through the 3rd brake light mods and DIY's, cheap Ebay replacements, and light deletes. Anybody have connections with JW Speaker to get an OEM 3rd brake light replacement that matches their taillights? I'll be honest and tell ya that I'm about to chop my tower and light completely off, but if someone like JW had a legit option I'd reconsider. Is there anything I'm missing or recommendations? (I know the new Jeeps coming have the light in the hardtop and think that's a great idea but I don't want to cut mine. And I'm really not seeing anything out there at that JW quality.)

Airslut you got me all excited man.. then i opened that can of worms and I caught an intense feeling of poopy. There is no way I would put a giant lens cover, light, sticker, or anything else on my silly Jeep that says Rigid or any other words in English or otherwise. If it was just a badass Rigid LED 3rd brakelight to compete with the Made in Taiwan Ebay ones I'm seeing you'd be on to something. I mean this in total gratitude and hopefully you understand, but no way man. We can keep searching and hoping for the best together in spirit brother.

Hey there! I Know Jason Speaker, but help me help you...

Define what you mean by "JW Quality" ... Are you trying to match the look so it all looks cohesive?

I am replacing my 3rd Brake Light with the RIGID Chase. It's way more than it appears, but modding our brake lights is probably more about looks than performance.

If you are open to adding a back-up camera (if you don't have one already), the AEV rear vision system comes with a very small led 3rd brake light. Have this on my rig and it looks great IMO. It's obviously probably more than you were looking to spend on this, but you are also getting the back-up camera.

Here is pic found on Google, can take more pics of mine if you decide this is a potential option for you.

Also, I purchased my 2017 with the reinforced hinge and oversized spare tire carrier. This option mounted the 3rd brake light to the rear wheel using the lug nuts. Here is a pic from my Jeep when I still had it on. You could probably buy this set up separately. If not, I still have mine and might consider parting with it. Was really only holding onto it in case I ever decided to pull my camera for some reason and needed to put it back on.

3/4" LED Third Brake Lights mounted on a 5 gallon bucket lid behind the spare. Texas is now requiring a working 3rd brake light to pass annual inspection.

I hated the fact that the stock light blocks what little view out the rear window there is. So I mounted, only having to do to 2 1/4" holes. I drilled from the outside all the way through the top to have the hole on inside. There is someone else that put a light there too, but they took the time to fish the wiring through the top without the second hole.

If it ever gets warm again, I will be putting a LED on part of the sound bar that faces rearward. The wiring will be tapped off the wires that go the current light. (photoshop)

We had a Mustang conv with a rollbar that had a light built in. This is where I got my inspiration. It would light up the interior also, but with the black top you would barely see it. I think I will be putting in a micro on/off switch for the rollbar light to prevent the interior from being lit up.

I just spoke with Jason Speaker, and there is no plan for a JK 3rd Brake Light. He did allude to new JK specific product coming 2nd quarter of this year, but nothing specific was mentioned.

I will be meeting up with him In DC and Dallas this spring, so I will bring the details back with me, but sorry bro, no TBL.

That being said, Rugged Ridge just announced one...

Did you look at the AEV third brake light? Best option IMO but just need to be sure they are comparable with the way your wheel mounts to the carrier. Unfortunately my wheels weren't a fit so I had to do the Teraflex mod (hate it) and my AEV light is just sitting in the box...

I'm rolling with the stock Willys black rims. I think I'm just going to pull the whole light off for now and rig something up later. I am looking for a 3rd brakelight for looks/some functionality. All great ideas here. thanks for the feedback and sorry for calling you airslut.

Well gang,
Being that we're sporting 315s on this JKUR which means, that large of a spare tire takes away from quite a bit of visibility. So, having the stock 3rd brake light extended up and above that 315, just took even more visibility away. So, I'm one of those types that thinks, if it's on there, it should be seen. Also being that, most likely this top will never come off, I decided to mount a new one right on the hard top. Obviously I don't have any problem drilling my top. So, take a look and see what you think. It's 15" long and has 11 SMD LEDs in it. Yep, it's BRIGHT!

I really like the looks of that light! Could you provide the model and source?

Thanks!

Really happy with my AEV reverse camera and 3rd brake light on my Jeep. You don't even notice it's there. Not cheap but the cleanest most factory looking rear camera and 3rd brake light available.
