Leaky Diff

Hey guys, i have been wheeling a long time but this is my first jk. I scraped the rear diff on some rocks last saturday and have a small leak at the bottom seal, i ordered armored diffs and while i wait i have been checking the level, everytime i have opened the diff, while cold, i have fluid come pouring out the fill hole. I would figure that by 5 days of dripping it would be low. Is it that overfilled by the factory?

What do you guys think?

It sounds like it is overfilled because when you change, it's only supposed to be filled to that hole. I just replaced my diff covers and after I undid the top plug, it started leaking out as well, so I'm assuming it's something they do from the factory. Although, my oil was not cold at the time (not hot either).

They are overfilled from the factory.

I scraped mine a couple of weeks ago. Same story, small drips, checked it a few times on long journey home.

It's easy to pull the cover, clean the mating surfaces, and reseal.

x3 on the overfill, RTV seal will seal it back up unless you've cracked away a piece?
