Lease Question

I'm looking to lease a new vehicle, and leasing a Jeep Wrangler is on top of my list. So I called a local Chrysler dealer, just to find an estimated lease price, per month, for the most basic Wrangler they had, X Sport Utility (sticker price, $20,575). With an employee discount, he said it would be about $300 a month. This was without looking at my credit score, which being in college, I have some work to do. Does that not seem a little high? I really don't want to spend anything over $250 a month. This was with a $2,000 down payment. Does that price seem right to you? I'll probably try and save a bigger down payment, but I was hoping to get this by the end of the month, which doesn't seem possible.

Any suggestions? My parents won't co-sign, because they're are already co-signed with my other siblings. Thank you for any help!

Having had a lease, I will never do one again. If you can swing it, buying one would be my advice, other wise your paying 250-300 a MONTH for something you don't own. Plus you just lost 2k. In vest the 2k in a investment fund and go buy a used jeep, something that fits your budget.

I agree with 4Jeepn. It just doesn't make sense to me to put a down payment on a vehicle, make monthly payments comparable to payments you would be making toward a puchase, be locked into a lease agreement for a specified amount of time, and then just GIVE the vehicle back to the dealer. Plus they will charge you extra for additional mileage wear and tear and any damage beyond your control, (parking lot dings, cracked windshield etc.) A vehicle is a very poor investment, but at least you do build equity that you can use toward a new vehicle, provided you owe less than the vehicle is worth. Just my two cents worth....good luck with whatever you choose.
