LED Light Bars from ebay and amazon

I have read that a few members bought some of the $100-200 light bars from China. I was wondering how they were holding up a 1000+ miles and a few car washes later.

While I value everyone's opinion, please contribute only if you have 1st hand knowledge, and ignore the urge to contribute general nuggets of wisdom like "you get what you pay for" and "you can't trust that Chinese junk".

Thanks!

I bought one from China on Ebay for about $190 back at the end of May, and installed it the beginning of June. So I've had it on my Jeep for about 6 months, and roughly 6k miles. My Jeep also stays outside. Its been through the heat of summer, with some days near 100°, and the start of winter including the mini ice storm and week of nothing but negative temps we just had up here in NY. I've also put it through multiple car washes both by hand, and automatic washes. It hasn't given me a single issue yet (knock on wood). People can say what they want, and I understand the quality isn't as good as the big name companies. But for the price, I'm super happy with it.

ive done alot of research and to be honest, im having a hard time justifying the cost of the 500-1200 bars. Maybe the light isnt as "clean" as the ridgeds and the like but i cant buy for or 5 of the cheap ones over the course of 5-10 years and still be futher ahead, and the cost of leds will further drop.

what i have found in my research, is make sure they are genuinely CREE LED's and you get a spot/flood setup since it gives you the best of both worlds. Flood is 2/3 of the bar and spot is in the center 1/3 of the bar!

also this should go without saying but make sure you get a fuse for the lights when you hook them up!

The biggest thing to look for is that they are Cree LEDs, and it has an ip rating of 67 to 69. Ip69 being the best.

Another vote for black box, I have the 12" and use it everyday and love it.

I highly recommend the Lazer Star 52" Endeavour light bar (LX23100C). Combo beam 68 spot / 32 floods. 30,000 lumen, 100 Cree LEDs w/ a IP68 rating. Lifetime warranty, water tight and 50,000 hour run time. Not to mention they DID NOT knock off some one elses product and sell it by the container full to anyone who has $150... I support the companies who spend the R&D money to develop their own products. Sometimes it about more than just the money.

Good luck-

Guilty as charged. Got a $100 amazon gift card from mom and couldn't resist the 15" LED light bar temptation. all good LED's with the vendor. total was $110. Shipped fast.

Light has both flood and spot LED's. Mounting bracket is pretty cheap.
I'm fabricating a heavy steel bracket now. Light output is good.

Color is slightly blue but I'd expect that. Light spread and coverage is good.

After several rain storms and a couple power washes the lights haven't gotten moisture inside yet. I assume they will eventually but so far it's dry inside. I'm having a cordua cover made to keep the rain and rocks off it for daily driving.

Tagging this. A 50" bar for $225 is sooo tempting

Olsen185: What mounting brackets did you use for this bar? Thanks

I have the Black Box Logistics 50" DRX ($500) in a combo pattern with Wurton brackets. And a 20" S-series ($250) in a spot pattern with Rigid brackets. The 50" has been on there longer but both have ZERO issues. Repeated days in the rain, multiple carwashes (hand&automatic), and now the snow. BBL offers a 1yr warranty and beyond excellent customer service, doubt if the ebay/amazon site does.

I'm using the Rough Country mounts, but I had to modify them. They are made for 50" bars and the 52" bars pushes them out too much. I cut and welded the mount to make it fit better.

SuperBrightLEDs here in St Louis makes some good ones. I'm looking at the 14.5" unit, myself.

I bought this fake D2 from ebay. I have never owned a Rigid so I can't compare it. I'm working on a bracket for the top of my spare holder and this will shine through the hole on my spare. Will be switched. I hooked it up to a battery and it was a spot pattern. The white box said 8 degrees I believe. Very bright and very sturdy

I bought this little guy for $22 on amazon. figured I cant go wrong for that price. turns out it rocks! I am buying a set to replace the fogs on my jeep now and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. its beam is very wide, have not gotten to use it on the trails yet but it lights up my garage! housing is all metal, lense is very tough plastic, almost feels like glass.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

a buddy bought one of the 50" bars, I could say the same about it but he traded the jeep in before the light even saw a trail....

YEA we used jumper cables to test it

Anybody know of any posts here that shows a thorough install process for the Cree dual purpose lights? I am assuming they would be comnected to some sort of a 3 way switch to accomodate the off/fog/spot options. Any direction on the subject would be appreciated.
