Who has led pod lights mounted on top of your tail lights?
I was on ebay today and saw a rough country bracket that goes over the tail lights and uses the lights mounting screws to hold it on. Then you mount the pod light on top of it.
I am trying to figure out how to run the wires for the pod lights. And how do 3" pod lights look?
I certainly see fabbing up some L shaped brackets and utilizing the top bolts to the lens housing... but the question I have is - what has RC done for you?
Thats how I justify helping market other peoples products. Do the products I buy from (insert X company here), enhance my experience enough that I want to further their marketing buy running products like these, that for all purposes, only markets the company.
As an example. I own two pair of Oakley eyeglasses, have owned as many as 5-6 Oakley sunglasses and 2 different pieces of Oakley luggage as wel as their monster sized chunky watch. They have given me t-shirts, stickers for my vehicle, baseball hats, etc... all intent on increasing brand awareness to people around me. Except for the hats, I gave it all away. Why? I have spent a fortune on their products... and all I am worth to them is a $5 giveaway shirt.
I kept the hats because I live in Texas and am bald as a cueball! Protect my noggin.

A little off subject but to your point, I get it. Back in November when a certain company announced a new soft top, I brought the info to the forum via a new thread that took off. It generated a lot of interest and was responsible for I don't know how many sales. Later that company sent out numerous free tops to people in the thread I started to evaluate. I was ignored completely, not that I ever asked them for one but damn...it was never my intention to get a free top out of it but it sure would have been nice to be asked. I'll never promote for this company again intentionally or otherwise. Thy didn't even offer me a discount when after the fact I pointed this out to them (again I didn't ask for one). I guess when a company gets big enough they feel it's ok to crap on people.
Looking at it the r.c.desing can be removed very easy with my drrmal tool, file and can of black textured spray paint.
Then I can put my tail light protection over the light bracket.
I think Rigid has a better design. Those are pretty shatty looking no offense. I looked at the Rigid setup, but with a hard top hoist, I can see the hard top swinging into these when lifting up.
I used the amazon knock off version of the rigid brackets. They do not interfere with the hardtop removal or the Trektop that is currently on my Jeep. I did modify them a little, the lights are now mounted more out board then the original design had them.

I know the tread you talking about I watched it. To be honest that tread is a big reason I didn't but one even though I really wanted one. All the talk about broken parts rep having to come out and look things over and try fix it rattle and so on. Treated like this and your can help or hurt a company.
I also like coming here and asking for honest feed back.
the flush mount was a drill, a dremel and an hour or so of my time - it wasn't that hard - there's a rubber drain plug in the bottom of the jack compartment you can use to route the wires in to the Jeep
I used masking tape to mark off where I needed to cut my holes
Managed to score a set of tail lights with harnesses for $35, a set of Amazon flush mount 18W LED fog lights for another $20 and a couple of hours with a dremmel to get these.
The stock 1157 bulb is rated at 27W so the stock harness is plenty for these LED's. They don't quite sit flush on the tail light, so they are sealed with clear RTV.
nice work! But I think many of us want a separately switched "Booster" light(s) back there; something that doesn't automatically come on when the Jeep goes into reverse, potentially blinding little old ladies behind us in a parking lot. So we want to keep the OEM incandescents for regular use, and switch on the torches when we realize it's dark and we can't see worth a flip behind us.
I tapped in at the rear 12v outlet. I used a cheap amazon whirring harness and a wireless remote from Superbright led. It also has strobe that I use for dust lights.
I couldn't think of a time where I'd want light like that out the back when I wasn't in reverse. And I didn't want to deal with all of the extra wiring to wire in a switch and relay. Am SPOD is on the mod list but not yet purchased or installed.
Lots of reasons why people want lights in the back of the Jeep: hooking up/ unhooking a trailer at night, loading trailer in the dark. Hunters / fisherman getting ready to go out or come in, safety.
I decided to hold off on the flush mounts, now you guys have me itching to add them lol!! It's only a matter of time before my wife figures out the enabler is this site.
