Length of time on dealer lot?

Does anyone know if there's a way to tell how long a new Jeep has been on a dealer lot? I'm looking at a 2013 model and was just curious how long they've had it.

If you look at the plate inside the driver's door it will tell you the build date.

Get the vin# and call Jeep. They will tell you when it was built, shipped, received and processed by the dealer.

cargurus.com can tell you how long it was on their website. Might be something to go off.

I saw the build date on the door sticker and asked the salesman and he told me. Mine was only there for a week; the odometer read '0' when I got in it for the test drive. It did hit '1' as I was pulling out of the lot though.

That had to be the trip computer that someone reset. They get several miles put on them in the factory during the roll test, loading and unloading on the Cassens trailer, etc.

This ^

Longer it's been on the dealer's lot, the more motivated they are to selling it, usually. They want to move vehicles...

Don't know about 0, but mine had 1 mile on it... It never made the regular dealer lot, it sat in the overflow lot amongst a sea of Fiat 500's and one lonely Challenger 392. It was cool knowing that the only people to drive my Jeep were someone at the factory and the guy that moved it on and off the transport.

LOL, no, it wasn't the trip computer or anything. It was a special order; it went from the line, to the holding lot, to the truck, to the dealer.

The closest I've ever come to that was my Silverado that had 3 miles on it when I test drove it.

Thanks everyone, I called Jeep with the VIN and they gave me the build date. It was built on February 13th. So I guess that means its been on the lot for a little while.

Sounds like they've had it a little while. If that's the one you want, offer them 10% off list (about 2% below invoice) and try to get the trade value you want. If you are taking a loan to purchase this is achievable as they get a kickback from the bank.

Sticker inside the door should say Feb/2013.
