Lets talk on board air, under the hood !!!

I'm in the market for a under the hood no tank air compressor . Looking for something that will air up 35's doesn't have to be crazy fast but don't want it to take forever .I've been looking at the arb found here at northridge
ARB Jeep JK 2012, Air Compressor & Mounting Bracket Package (ARB-JK2012-COMPRESSOR-KIT)
Would like a full kit so i dont have to buy and find what goes with what . I've seen the threads with the portable compressors and the alligator clips but would really like something permanent under the hood .
Does anyone have this comp? Does it do what you want it to do?

I have the exact setup and it does a great job airing my 35's backup from 15-18 pounds. I haven't timed exactly how long it takes for each tire but its probably around 4 minutes per tire. If you have a S-pod there is a nice wiring harness to interface the ARB to it.

I currently use the VIAIR ADA unit that mounts to the master brake cyclinder. Works great. Airs up stock KMs from 14 psi up to 35 psi right around 2 minutes per tire.

Before the ADA, I had the VIAIR 300P portable unit. That connected to the battery with the clips you mentioned. That also worked fine. Just a bit of a hassle moving it all around and a bit slower also. If you don't need to air up all that often, this unit would probably work fine for you. Another issue with the portable units, they get HOT !!! You either need to wait for it to cool down before putting it back in the case, or you need to find a place in the back away from other items.

Regards,

If you haven't already picked up some Staun deflators add those to your order. They are worth every penny.

I have a basic mounted system and I've been happy with it's performance. Got it from Jeepswag for $260 delivered. It'll come in handy when driving on the beach @ OBX later this summer.

Do you have the spod? Did the kit give you everything you need to get it up and running? Did you have to move anything to make room for it where it's suppose to sit? Thanks in advance

The Spod came with everything that you need and so did the ARB kit you are considering. Both mounted right up without any issues. The Spod does take a little time since you have to route the cables but the instructions are very detailed.

I have the VIAIR ADA kit and I've been happy with it.

Only issue has been the master cylinder mount that developed a stress crack. It was allowing the compressor to contact the brake line and squeak pretty bad with each bump. I pulled the mount off, welded up the crack and then welded a gusset over it. Hopefully that solves it.
