Let's talk Tube Doors

Ok, so I tried the search feature (even the advance search) and do you want to know how many posts there are that have "tube doors" in them? Well I didn't count, but lets just say there were more than like 3 (which is what my mind can handle).

After purchasing my new 2011 JKU, I've put on tires, wheels, and a lift. Got a Supertop NX coming (yeah, right...what's up with that Geoff???) and the wife wants the doors off. I've got three kids that will ride in the back most of the time. I could take the front doors of and the middle panels of my HT off and ride around that way, but if my top ever gets here (GEOFF???), I won't have the HT on until the winter. SO, I'm thinking tube doors. Are they safer than no doors with the kids in the back? Probably not, but heck, that's what's insurance is for, right???

Anyway, what are you guys running and is there a steal of a deal on doors out there somewhere???

Thanks,
Kevin

I know Bestop is a sore topic and I feel your pain but they do make a tube door that you can add several options to. It's called an HighRock 4x4 Element doors. They have several add-ons like storage bags but the one thing I like about it is you can add a panel to turn it into a half door. Not really that cheap for JKU needing 4 doors but can be customized.

That's real nice, especially since I was looking at a soft top, and I can make those fit with a soft top, and still have a tube door.

Surely rics1997 isn't the only one running tube doors?

I got the Rugged Ridge doors and love them. When researching the purchase, most tube door complaints were that they rattle and were noisy. Not the RR's, they use the same nut from the steelies to attach them to the hinges so they don't rattle at the hinges. They include a rubber bumper that you can screw into the frame as well to eliminate rattle.
They are solid and sturdy and I highly recommend them. Though not as versatile as the HighRocks, you can get Molle gear with pockets to fit them if you desire.

Beautiful dog by the way.

Think you could package those element doors with my Supertop NX? I even quoted your name in my original post . Seriously though, off topic, what's the lates with the top(s)? Specifically for a JKU.

Thanks again guys.

Thanks for the update. I'll take your dog over the tube doors any day. Wife and I have raised shepherds for years now and we haven't had one in almost two now...feels lonely at home.

The problem I'm going to run into is the fact that I've got to have 4 doors. Probably need some way now to explain to the wife why they are necessary. Don't think she'll go with "Cause they look good"

Lol.

Going to stick up for BT.

I figure BT got the TJ and YJ tops out first cause "we need them more" I would think most people buying a new jeep would choose the dual top option ?? Just a
thought, could be way off

Am I right?

Caesar's a great dog although there are times when the tube doors listen better. He's still a puppy and it shows at times ( a LOT of the time).

I'd rather run doorless, but my wife was very uncomfortable while doing so. These were a good compromise at the time. Now they are preferred. I had the steelies on last week with all the rain and she actually missed the tubes. She couldn't put her feet up going down the road.

I hear you. We have a 7 month old puppy who would rather play and have fun nonstop rather than listen. It's still a lot of fun though.

He's 18 months old and still a "spasmonaut", but I couldn't live without him. He's still learning to be a Jeep dog though. He just discovered gravity this weekend when he dropped his tennis ball out of the back while cruising down the road. Man I wish I had a picture of his face when it happened - like he just lost his best friend in the world.

Thank goodness I had my tube doors. (just needed to stay on topic)
