Lfts, Tires and Warranties

I went to a local good 4x4 place to get an estimate on doing a 2.5" suspension lift and 33" Dick Cepek MC Tires. The point of going to the dealer was to get a clear answer on whether or not the lift would void the warranty. I wasnt really able to get a very clear answer from the guy. He said anything that isnt Mopar parts can void your warranty. What I want to add is the Skyjacker 2.5" suspension lift, which is just 4 new springs, 4 new shocks and a relocation bracket for the track bar, I know a few guys here work at dealerships, and I know plenty of you guys have lifted your JK's. Whats the deal, what happens with the warranty and the Lifetime Drivetrain warranty with a lift/larger tires?

Technically when dealing with the warranty they will tell you that if any part you add to your vehicle causes another part to fail then it will not be covered. They have to show you where a performance part caused the failure to happen. So if your mygig or radio quits there's no way they can say that having 33" tires caused that. People have been dealing with this issue of warranties and mods since the TJ came out in 97.

Try different dealers. Some dealers wont care as long as it is less than 3-4". Others will be more strict. You just need to find a mod-friendly Jeep dealer.

OR... hold out for the Mopar 4.5" ORT long arm suspension (repackaged Rubicon Express). I'm sure it will cost an arm & first born, but it should be covered under the Mopar warranty.

read up on the Magnuson-Moss act. it says that a dealer must prove the mod caused the defect and they must do so without any ambiguity. if the terms or explination are not completely clear you can nail the dealership with this act.
