Lifetime warranty?

I've seen several mentions of owners having a lifetime warranty on their JK. I heard Chrysler did it for a year in 08?, but seeing other people mention it on other year JKs. Who has em and how did u get em?

You can buy it from Chrysler. Any dealer will be more then willing to take your money for it. You can get it for the same price all the way up until your original warranty is still in effect. After that it cost a huge premium to buy. My dealer offered it to me on my last visit since I am getting close to 36K miles. they wanted $2400 but heard some claim to get it for around $1700 to 1800 range.

I just went to Jeep website and saw it. Dealer never mentioned it when i bought it. Im surprised. Have a lot of people bought it? No longer having a reasonable warranty was one of the reasons i got rid of my other vehicle. The extended they offered wasnt worth it-didnt cover enough for the $ they were asking.

So you can get it at anytime? I was planning on getting it with the purchase but if I can wait I will. Since its non transferable it makes sense to wait and years down the road you will have a better idea if your going to keep it for a while and be worth it.

The lifetime warranty doesn't exist here in Canada btw. I paid to extend mine from the standard 3 year up to 5 year 100k km bumper to bumper. The basic is only 3 years 60k km.

Exclamation

This is a repeat post, but I will answer again: I got it

Had 3 engine failures, due to frying "coil paks" at 1300-mi. Towed in twice! Failed the 3rd time during the Dealer test drive after repair #2!

The fix: a bandaid type of fix! Friends still laugh every time they see the repair. Yas at 10K it's still running, BUT, I am DAMN glad I have the Life Time!

It was worth the cost for me! NO, it is not transferable

It was also included in 09. In 2010 it became 100K and transferable,

You can purchase the lifetime anytime during the standard 3/36 warranty. IIRC, after the first 12 months or 12000 miles whichever comes first there is a surcharge. It is transferable in a couple of states such as FL and another one I can't remember right now.

You can buy it thru any jeep dealership. Cost is 1700 with a $100 deductible. So go back to your dealership and negotiate a deal with them for it if you decide to buy it.

For those of you that bought used Jeeps that are still under the standard 3/36 you can purchase it as well.

Hey Pat, still waiting for that homecomming visit back to Maine. If you bring a jeep, we can head out and do some cruising down the stud mill : )

I got it, I plan on keeping this thing for the long term, so I didn't mind spending a little more than I would on a regular extended warranty. Got the lifetime pluse wheel and tire package for $1800.00. My wheels and tires were $2000 alone..

Our 09 came with a liftetime warranty on the transmission. We bought the lifetime as we are not planning on gettin rid of the jeep and wanted the extra peace of mind for the engine and electronics.

This is the "Max Care" warranty, correct? The dealer here was offering it for about $2600-$2700. The warranty was apparently good for as long as I owned the vehicle, even 20 years from now.

wow that is allot less than my dealer was quoting. they were really pushing the jm&a warranty that i did not purchase. would it be possible to buy the warranty through you and get the 12mo payment plan that they offer. btw I'm in Florida.

We bought it for both of our 2011 Jeeps. We originally purchased at a higher cost, but found out the real cost and went back to the dealership and renegotiated for $1800 each. The dealer preferred to decrease the cost rather than cancel them.

We plan on keeping the jeeps for a long time.

At 20 years, it might not cover expensive repairs as it is limited by the value of the vehicle. If Wranglers keep holding value it should cover repairs for a long time though. I got it for $1800.

Really, so if the warranty costs 1700 and wheels and tires are 2000 then you paid appr half. I doubt it... Either they told you that and your paperwork says something different or they made a whole bunch of money on you some other way.

Wow, really?? I can see you are way smarter than I, so I won't bother breaking down the numbers for you.. And get it correct, I paid $1800, not $1700.... What a moron..

I call it how I see it that's all. I'm not being a dick, but you are stating that you got the lifetime warranty and $2000 worth of wheels and tires for 1800. Seems odd that's all. Maybe I read it wrong but to me it's really misleading to the other members. Not trying to start an argument my bad.

If you are talking about the road hazard package that's a different story.

Yes, I know, 6 month old thread.

Anyway, we bought our 2013 Sahara yesterday. The finance manager tried to sell us all sorts of warranties, GAP insurance, etc., which we declined.

One that I was interested in but that I wanted to do some more price research on was the bumper-to-bumper lifetime warranty. He said he could sell it to me for $3,000.

I don't' recall if that included GAP coverage or not but when I asked him if I could think it over and buy it later as long as my 3 yr/36 mo factory warranty was still in effect he said no, that once I drove it off the lot the vehicle became used and he could only sell the lifetime warranty to me on a new vehicle.

Unless Chrysler has changed their policy on when someone can purchase the lifetime warranty he was just trying to pressure me to make a instant decision. The $3,000 price may have been a tad high as well. I can see that he wouldn't want me researching what others have paid for this coverage before buying it through him.

You can still purchase it after the fact. In fact, there's a link on the website for just that. (you can even get it on pre-owned vehicles)

Maximum Care Plus Plan

Thanks for the link. At least that answers the question about whether we can buy the lifetime warranty after it's considered a used vehicle.

The cost on the Jeep website doesn't look too attractive. The listed price for the Maximum Care lifetime warranty, equipped with 4-wheel drive, is $4,260.

We got it on our 2012 JKU Rubicon for $2400 back in March. Salesman said it is not transferable but as long as the title stays in our name (i.e. give it to one of our kids 15 years from now) it will still be honored.

I was told we had 12 mos/12,000 miles to make a decision. My dealer wanted $2,600 for it. I was also told that if the price of the part(s) needed exceed the book value of the vehicle, they will reimburse you the book value and then drop your coverage.
