Hello. I have been contemplating lifting my JK. Only around 2" I think. Driven mostly on the street so I don't want to lose the comfort. If I jacked it up by the frame until I gained 2 more inched between the tire and wheel well (fender) would this give me a good idea of what the finished product would look like? Attached a photo for opinions. General Tires on 18" stock rims.
I did the rancho sport 2 " lift to remove the rake stock jeeps have on the front end. Perfectly level and the 9000 shocks are a huge advancement. Maybe something to consider especially with their annual shocktober 4 for the price of three sale coming up.
It will give you an "idea" of what it could look like but not exact. Don't forget when you go to a bigger tire it will also raise your jk some. Also I have experienced that a 2" lift kit could end up being higher then that. There is a thread called newbies guid to lifting check it out a lot of good info
Look at the picture threads. There is every possible combination of lift, tires, door and colors know to humanity. The biggest impact of a 2" lift is getting rid of the rake. That changes the look and attitude of the JK more than anything.
Thanks for the replies. I will browse the forum and see what I can find. Will also take a look at the Rancho Sport Lift. We are going to start towing a very small pop up with the JK so this may help. It already has a tow package. Figure I can't pull too much as it is a 2 door.
Again, thanks.
You wouldn't believe the size of a boat I saw a Jk pulling going to Reno Nevada three weeks ago. It was a female driver as well. Maybe she had gears idk.
With any suspension mod, consider the effect on towing. Look at lift selection video from Teraflex. The quickie 2" lift will shorten your wheelbase a little, which doesn't help your towing safety on the 2 door. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZUSrjamaJE
If you take a look at some of the 2" Lift Kits on our site you'll see a bunch of customer submitted images as well as reviews to help you make a decision on how much lift to go with. Let me know if you have any questions or if you'd like a quote!
Thats the route I plan on going myself . Im looking to do it now but Ive read that they normally have a sale in October , so I guess that Ill wait till then.
Thanks for the info. Didn't know that. Why is yours lifted?
I have already replaced the stock taillights having to cut into the body, drilled holes into the grill to install a custom made grill guard using screen and stainless carriage bolts. Don't plan on selling it any time soon. You do see customized and lifted Jeeps bringing a premium if done right. It all in looks and performance.
Pretty well considering I did it alone, with a floor jack and no air tools. Spent most of the time looking for tools. Second time would be much quicker. Maybe 6 hours total not including lunch break. Did the front one day back the next. Back was much quicker.
