Lift Question

Ive been looking at some lifts and some of them say that a 4.5 inch backspacing might be required. Is that a spacer or something else.
I have a 2010 Sahara i plan on putting a 2.5in Rubicon Express spacer system lift on it and run my factory 18inch wheels with some 33's on it.

backspacing has to do with the rim. read more in the tire/wheels section.

If you want 33's on your factory wheels they'll need to be 10.5's... The backspacing is too much for wider. That is what they mean. Backspacing is how far in the wheel mounts in relation to the hub... kinda (it makes sense in my head....) Anyway, for a wider tire you have to have less bs... which means new wheels or spacers....

It doesn't have anything to do with lifting it tho..

yeah like pak and Inferno said, BS refers to the rims. I'm think the kit you're looking is "designed to fit a xx" tire, so x.xx backspace is required."

they basically are just helping you out I think to get you to a good height without rubbing, but lifts alone don't always allow tire clearance. that's all I can think of why a lift kit would be talking about BS.

the lift you are looking at says it will fit most likely 12.5 inch tires. 12.5" tires will only fit if combined with a wheel with less bs.
