I will be looking to lift my 07 JKU, I've been reading all of the posts regarding lifting jeeps but I'm curious what are some of the better lift kits out there, that have what I need to put on a 3" lift to accommodate 35" tires. I realize this is a pretty subjective question, but I'm personally leaning towards Teraflex since it appears to my newbish eyes they have some solid kits.
4Get a "kit" that's all it is. Nothing special. U will have something everybody else has. Go 2 a shop and get a custom suspension and have it done right. I spent top dollar on rock krawlers best tj kit and it sucked. I've replaced the entire front and will be doing the entire rear shortly with a custom setup. The front performs and rides 10x better now that i ditched the "kit". Can't wait to ditch the rear next. Only thing left of rock krawler is the high clearance center skid where i also mount my lower control arms. What a waste of money that was. Oh well live and learn
Plan on a regear as I too have the 07 and I put 3.5" lift with 35's. It is extremely slow and I have 4:10's. You will not be happy because I can only go 70 on the highway before having to drop to 3rd (auto). As well as 11mpg around town and 12 on the highway if you keep it at 70 or lower.
Regear to what ratio? Also what would something like that run (Cost) and how difficult would a job like that be, is it something a few friends with the knowledge do or should I leave it to pros?
If you decide to regear, you may do to 4.88, 5.13 or 5.38 depending on what you decide you'd want. It generally runs $1200-2000 and is not the kind of thing you can do alone. Experience is everything with gears. There Is 1 way to do it right and many ways to screw up
