Light Mounting Bracket for Windshield

Hi all,
I'm looking to mount some light brackets to the windshield of my '08 Wrangler Unlimited X. I've noticed that there are many brands of mounting brackets. Does the brand of bracket have to match the brand of lights? Or are the brackets universal to any brand of light?

As you noticed there are many brands of winshield light brackets, you can use any brand of bracket with any brand of light. They do not have to be the same.

Just be careful, some will cause your windshield lights to "run into" the radio antenna--

My KC Daylighters don't-

I got mine for my Hellas off Quadratech. Good mounts are worth the $$.....I have as much in the mount as in the lights

Unless you buy a stubby antenna (and sometimes even if you do), you should look for vertical windshield mounts. Some of the horizontal ones cause issues with the antenna/lights.

You can also buy smaller lights, such as the Rigid Dually LED's in this link (I just got mine this week):

Dually

And here's some info on em in a recent thread where I was trying to figure out which lights to buy.

Hella Rallye 4000 or 500 Black Magic

I'm just using those as an example; there are tons of options. Just make sure you don't get fogs for the windshield mounts. They fan the light out and you'll get glare off your hood. You want driving lights for mounting em on the windshield.

Here are a few more threads discussing various options. First link's got a bunch of good pics, to give you ideas:

I really like the look of this jeep. I have a 2012 JKU. Will those tires fit on my stock 17 rims without a lift? Also, what light bar is that?

Sometimes, you need to check the mounting hole size for lights. For instance a bracket may be set up for a Rigid LED light, and you want to fit a KC Daylighter onto the same bracket. You will have to drill out the mounting hole as it is a smaller hole for the Rigid vs the KC. No big deal really but brackets can come lower, higher, outside bias or inside bias. Like some have posted the radio antenna and other mods like an overhead rack may affect your outcome.

Thanks everybody for your input! I decided on the KC brackets. Hopefully I won't have any issues. Now I just need to pick out some lights.....

I want my lights as far outboard as I can get them. If the stubby antenna interferes it will become a super stubby antenna. It is just for looks any way. I never listen to am/fm.

I turn mine in/out almost every time I usem at night--depends on the terrain/cliff/trees/naked dancers-etc-they don't inhibit my lineof sight in their position anyway-

Suptoyou-

I'm afraid that thats because you have silver, there's no glare from mine--even when focus'd straight-

You just have to be sure that the mount is HIGH enough, to avoid the close "down" smattering of light-

Don't know about the silver but my mounts appear to be as high as yours.
