Based on the top-spec Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock, the Red Rock features a manual transmission, next-generation Dana 44 live axles front and rear, 4.10:1 gears, a Rock-Trac transfer case, a vented power-dome hood, rock rails, and red tow hooks front and rear. Hood decals, low-gloss Granite Crystal bumpers, and low-gloss black grille inserts and headlight accents add some visual zing to the proceedings, while the gears and transfer case conspire to give the Red Rock a 73.1:1 crawl ratio.

The 35-inch BFGoodrich K02 All-Terrain T/A tires are held on by 17-inch beadlock wheels. A two-inch lift kit enhances clearance, while LED headlights and fog lights illuminate nighttime trail runs. A Jeep-branded CB radio allows you to live out your C.W. McCall fantasies either on- or off-road. And for yanking yourself or others out of trouble, the Red Rock’s got a Warn Rubicon winch bolted to the front.

Amaretto Brown seats are upholstered in—wait for it—Katzkin leather, with silver accent stitching and embroidered Red Rock logos. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Easter Jeep Safari, the Red Rock concept features a serialized grab-handle plaque.

IF (big if) they build it just like that... it would be pretty cool. Black fenders would make it damn near perfect. And with dealer markup it will be more expensive than an AEV build I'm sure. Only 50 units makes it a real collectable, and the manual transmission means somebody still has a soul in the marketing department.

With the intro of the JL, they won't bastardize it like they did the 10A with the X and HR.

As with all Jeeps, you can buy a "normal" Jeep and build it to look exactly like the Red Rock and save thousands... although the real Red Rock would probably appreciate in value.... 25 years down the line.

Amaretto Brown seats? Who are they kidding? This is a Jeep not a Maserati!

Bison Dung Brown would have been more appropriate!

Did they send the Jeep marketing team to Italy for "sensitivity training"...?

I like the setup but I'm sure it'll be overpriced even before dealer markup. Don't see the point in limiting it to a manual though. I had mine at an off-road park this weekend and it only reaffirmed my choice for an auto.

+2

My prior four Wranglers were all manual transmission: they were a LOT of fun, but after the first time wheeling in my auto Rubicon I had to ask myself "Aldo, what have you been doing all these years...?"

Well at least we can hope the antenna will be properly grounded and tuned. But yes, it will most certainly be a low end radio. You can't expect Jeep to offer something peaked and tuned that would violate FCC regulations.

I have never lusted after a bone stock Jeep configuration before...

This one I want!!!

I'm assuming all 50 will be unlimiteds (4DR)???

I have fair more faith in the current auto surviving 35s with marginal gearing than I do the manual. That automatic is practically bulletproof behind the V6. Mercedes used it in their AMG vehicles and it's rated for like twice the torque the 3.6 makes.

I see a whole new marketing direction opportunity for Jeep

RedRock - Red
BlackRock - Black
BedRock - Mattress in the back
SpudRock - Potato Stickers
MudRock - Custom Paint
KidRock- Only one made
KegRock - Custom Rear Bumper (like AEV) with Tap

I used to have a HardRock sticker but someone kept swapping out my "R" wasn't funny.

Wow :)

I Love Sarcasm - IF I could Buy Sarcasm (and drive it) it would be a Monster 600hp SarcasMobile with an AT and a Cup Holder. :)

(and a stick to play with TOO) I'd drive around whacking unsuspecting pedestrians (and presbyterians for that matter) on the bottom with it.

Polaris makes wheels like that for the RZR. There's like two beads plus the beadlock ring. You can mount the tire between the two beads and then the beadlock ring is just for show. Or you can just use the outer of the two beads then the beadlock ring becomes functional.

Jeep Unveils The Red Rock Edition Wrangler JKU

From Quadratec's Youtube
The bait and switch is on... "The production model will be based on the Red Rock concept..." that sounds to me like corporate speak for we'll keep the lift and 35's thank you very much... but they're available in our parts dept.

Interestingly, the concept has an auto trans.... FAIL

2" lift and 35s? Kind of a small lift for 35s. Wonder if that is a puck or spring lift. I don't see the value here. You're not going to get the D44 off the military J8 JK, so the axles housing and Cs will still need work, not getting a relocated SS that is stupid simple to do and not getting the Euro big brakes to say the least. The only thing I see as special here are the brown leather seats.

But I am sure I will see a few running around the beach cities here is SoCal driven by the guy/gal that thinks they are the S..T for owning one. Or better yet the person that buys one just to have everything taken off and replaced with bigger tires, rims with more backspace, lift and bumpers. See that all the time with 10th and HardRocks. Well, it's their money to spend.

This one is cool, but the Jeep Africa Concept Wrangler remains the one I'm truly lusting after.

They can't do KidRock, he's already being used by GM.

And what are those headlights, JWS? They probably add about $1K MSRP to be build. No thanks.
