The spare is fastened with 3 lug nuts. You could brobably get one locking lug nut or put a bicycle lock through a spoke and through the carrier somehow.
Some dealers throw them in as a courtesy (mine did). Others don't. Here's a photo of what one of the locking lugs looks like, so you'll know. Make sure they included the key in the glove box, if you get em.
Just picked up my 2012 sport last month when i asked my dealer about the wheel locks he said they dont come with the car you have to purchase them but after some talking i got him to throw 5 wheel locks on one for each tire for free
I had a dealer throw in the wheel locks on my 2010. But not from a different dealer on my 2012. A cable and lock combination at Home Depot ran me about $7-$8 for my spare. I'll get some wheel locks soon. Have fun with the new Sahara.
I bought a set of four from Auto Zone and don't know why there wasn't five. The size for mine was 1/2-20. I only used one on the bottom of the spare and keep the rest along with the key in the floor compartment with the lug wrench and jack. The key wrench code is written down and inside the glove box.
Don't remember the brand for them, but they had a whole array to choose from and the price was right or I would have looked elsewhere.
I notice everyone is putting the lug lock in their glove box. I was told by a friend that is a Sheriff to never put the locks in there. Apparently wheel theives know this and break a window, get the lock and can then steal the wheels. I had never though of this, but I guess it makes the theives job a little easier.
I have a first aid kit in my car and the lock is in that, in the trunk. I haven't received my Jeep yet so not sure where I will put it. My current Wrangler has it velcro tied under the passenger seat.
First post here. Just bought a 2012 JKU for my daughter. What a lucky girl !!!
Does anyone have the Mcgard part number for the 5-pack for 2012 Wrangler Unlimited? I tried the Amazon link above, and went through Amazon's "Find parts that fit your vehicle" menus and it says they do NOT fit. Can anyone confirm that the 24538 fit the 2012 Wrangler? I have the aluminum 17" wheels.
Dealer put 4 wheel locks on the ground, and not one on the spare. I don't want to have to keys, so I'm looking for a 5-pack and don't want to spend $50 at the dealer.

BTW...the McGard's will fit, I'm pretty certain. They're the right size, and they'll fit an '11 Wrangler. I think Amazon just hasn't updated their listings for the '12 models yet.
Thanks for the quick replies. I didn't even think to try it for a 2011 model on Amazon. It does indeed say it fits. $21.99 for 5, and that will leave it with only one key. Thanks!
Definitely make sure you lock the spare. I live in MA and some of the local Jeep dealers have been getting ripped off. People are stealing just the spare and end up getting a full set of tires and rims.
Hi everyone! I bought a new JKU and just noticed that the spare tire is missing two lug nuts. I'm not sure if it came with two missing, or if someone stole them! Does anyone know?
Thanks!
