Lockable storage suitable for laptop

There's been a lengthy discussion about larger lockable storage, for example
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f274/jku-rear-security-217691.html

Can any of you suggest something suitable for a laptop. Preferably under the seat, but the usual underseat unit isn't large enough... I'm hoping to avoid something like the Tuffy. But might have to go that route!

And before you ask, it's my work. iPhones and tablets just aren't big enough for serious software work and I need the software and tools I've got on the thing.....

You don't necessarily need to get something that takes up the entire back area...maybe just a laptop lockbox instead?

Here you go. This is what I am looking at. They also make it in a deeper version for the Unlimited. I have the 2 door so this ones works for me.

Pardon my ignorance, but does this bolt to the floor or to the swinging tailgate? I've never seen a box like this.

Any reason you want to stay away from Tuffy? They make a great product that's been tried and test for years. We have their Tuffy Laptop Locker that sounds like it would work perfectly for you!

If you still don't like that part, check out the other Interior Storage solutions we have and let me know what you think.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have or get you a quote on anything!

Me too... I'd love to see how/where this fits.

Here's the installation instructions. It mounts behind the back seat. The angle is for the bump on the inside of the tailgate. A review of the box on Amazon said the rear seats don't fold down with the box installed and the box isn't too secure when it is installed.

Id love to see someone make a box that can fit a laptop bag that is not bulky and locks and does not drill holes into something. It seem like something could go on the passenger side floor that is only accessible if you were to open the door. Be huge product for someone to go up with a solution for this. The laptop holder is sort of lame. What do I do with my laptop bag then that has my power supply, portable hardrive, mouse, documents, etc. 21" long 13" wide and just enough depth to shove the bag and everything in it.

That tool box from Dee Zee Specialty is sweet but is ridiculously experience. I'm planning on modifying some large ammo cans for my center console and both rear fenders.

Ryan,
My comment re Tuffy was directed to the larger units being discussed in the original thread I referenced. I have nothing per se against Tuffy or any other manufacturer. I hadn't seen their specific laptop storage unit.

But the issue has now become mostly moot. I retired last year and moved to Arizona where we are enjoying our Rubi on their innumerable dirt roads. Our storage needs at the moment involve something that is "bear proof" [I know that's an oxymoron!!] that we could use while tent camping in a soft top. See my previous thread!

Got it! I didn't realize that this was an old thread until after I posted. Sorry about that! Sounds like Arizona is treating you well. Enjoy!
