Locker rear axle as factory option on 2013 Sahara???

Edmunds.com now lists a "locker rear axle" as a $ 1,500 dollar factory installed option for the 2013 Wrangler Sahara 2 door. I have not seen this listed as an option on any other site, including Jeep.com.

Has anybody else read about this becoming an option on the 2013's, or is this likely an error on the Edmunds site?

If it is there is no way i would pay that much for it, you could have a much better unit for that price.

Perhaps MOAB was intended, but the site didn't require you to check the MOAB option in order for the "locker rear axle" option to be added to the Sahara. May be just a glitch on Edmunds.

The MOAB Edition is a Sahara with option pkg 24M. Maybe that could cause some confusion.

I went on edmunds, i see what your saying, they have the Moab edition as a option for the Sahara, but have a checklist to choose the locker for the Sahara, kind of confusing.

It's an error. A glaring one.

Is that different than the $295 anti-spin differential rear axle option on the "Build Your Own" Jeep website?

Yes. The $295 limited slip operates with mechanical clutches. I have this LSD on my Jeep and it works OK for the price. The MOAB locking rear diff appears similar to the one on a Rubi, but I don't have a MOAB, so I don't really know. I believe you force both rear wheels to turn,,, which is handy. If I was ordering a MOAB this would be nice because it would be covered under warranty. Others say this is too expensive.

Since some of the Sahara's are close to the cost of a Rubi: If you want a locker, better off getting a Rubi for both lockers.

Old thread, but thought I could clear this up in case anyone else is looking for this information.

The rear locker was a $1500 option that required the $5200 Moab Edition Package. Pricey combo.

Edmunds often lets you just check boxes, without indicating which options require which other options.

We make all of this automatic at TrueDelta.

That option has been around since JK start. Factory order, and includes the sway bar disconnect of the Rubicon.

Can you point me to a source for this? I can find no mention anywhere that the locker option on the Moab incl the swaybar disconnect, and a few forum posts (for what they're worth) saying it does not.

For 2007 only....when you could almost pick and choose your options. It is why you see 2007 non-Rubi's with 4.10's.

My neighbor has a 2008 JKU sport with the rear locker and sway bar disconnect. I'm not sure about his gear ratio, but he definitely has the locker and disco.

We have that information for earlier years of the JK. In the official order guides they dropped those options at some point.

Check with a good dealer. See if they can order up the options you want.

The gear ratio for these were 3.73. I have seen an '09 Sahara outfitted as well.
