Locking Gas Cap

I just got a new 2010 Wrangler Unlimited Islander. I replaced my stock gas cap with a non-OEM locking cap. I got the gascap light and then CEL. Anyone have any luck with after market caps? I guess I'll be ordering a new OEM mopar one in the AM. Will the light go out by itself?

I'm assuming that thats an error light to say the gas gap isn't creating a seal?

Why not try taking the cap off and adding a gasket or something to improve the seal? I added one inside my old gas cap since it was loose when it was on

Do you still have your oem cap? If so you can just buy the locking fuel door. It just bolts on using the screws that are already there.

Yes. I still have the original. I do like the look of the door. I'll look into that.

I bought my locking cap from dealer for 25 bucks and no problems. If you live in a winter state snow/ice the regular door will keep your locking cap free of such things.

Well I got the locking mopar cap this morning. They gave me a discount at $19 bucks. So I returned the Wally World gas cap for a refund. I disconnected the negative battery cable to turn the light off. So far I haven't got the gascap light or the engine light after the new gas cap.

I think I will get the locking fuel door later on. It has a nice custom look.
Jeep Gas Cap and Fuel Door for Wrangler.
I think I prefer the black to chrome.

If your gunna go with the bottom Rugged Ridge door you can get the same thing Here cheaper + free shipping. So locking cap + locking door? You must have some bad vandals on "the island"
