I've been looking at a new 2009 Wrangler X in black. It has half door and a soft top, rubicon wheels, tires and suspension.
Test drove it and really like it....doors seemed a little loud, but thought I could get a used hardtop and find some whole doors a lot cheaper than buying from dealer.
I currently have a Toyota FJ and I like it, but the seats are so hard it hurts my back and bum!
I can probably get the jeep for way under invoice with the rebates, and they are taking off the holdback to. $23,500.00 would be the price.
Do you think this is a good price? or can I do better? Is there anything that I should look out for or do not want the jeep to have?
$23.5K? Auto or Manual Tranny? Any particular Package installed, like the 23S or 24S? What Gears are installed, 3.21's or 3.73's? Check Edmunds.com for a TMV (True Market Value) for the one you're looking at, and see what the Dealer does with Incentives as well.
KEEP THOSE HALF DOORS!!! They're like GOLD!!! You'll be glad you have them for the Summer, when you go Top Down/Off! Those babies are hard to find! You can find Full Doors on Craigslist, EBAY, etc., pretty easy, OR... you might even be able to Trade someone your Half Doors for their Fulls, if you don't intend to use them at all.
NOTE: If you Trade/Buy Full Doors, make sure you're NOT getting Power Windows, if your Rig isn't equipped with the Power Convenience Package. You'll have to go with the Hand Cranker's instead!
Also, if you're looking for a Used Hard Top, make sure you get all of the Hardware that's supposed to come with it. Some Jeepers are buying Used Soft/Hard Tops from Private Owners, and are not getting the applicable Hardware to go with it. It can be a real PIA when it's not gonna install right.
Lastly, if you're buying a Used Hard Top for an '09 Wrangler, make sure you buy an '09 Hard Top. The '07's and '08's won't fit, because the Center Footman's Loop was moved over on the '09's.
For what it is worth, a local dealer in Oklahoma City is advertising $5000 off any 2010 in stock. I am thinking about a 2010 Sahara but have yet to decide if I want to spend the $$$$.
We bought a new 2009 Wrangler X, with 23S package, dual tops, and the BFG MTR tires for just about that amount. I'm thinking you could do a LOT better on price. Ditto what Blackbeard said - check Edmunds.
ok thanx guys! I'm not really thrilled with the dealer right now. They are trying to wiggle out of the deal they gave me in writing......so I'm gonna keep looking, but there are not a lot of wranglers to choose from around here.....lots of base models, with nothing on them.
The X I was looking at was an automatic, had black appearance group, soft top, 255/75/17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrains and Rubicon wheels. Not sure of the rear axle, but it seemed to have a 3.73 by the way it drove.
I paid more than that for my used 09 due to sucky credit, and amount owed on my trade, but I had to have it, and didn't care.
