Looking at new Arctic Wrangler 6 speed

New member - I test drove it and really liked it. I may use it off road on occasion. It has the standard axle ratio - is there any disadvantage to this? Should I get the 3:73? The ones I looked at were around $35K nicely equipped. What is a good deal on these right now? Can I get one around $30K out the door? I want to get an idea before working out a deal with the dealer.

I bought my '12 JK Arctic 10 days ago. Drove it off the lot with 21 miles on the odometer. 3.21 ratio, 6sp manual, fully equiped rolling on 255/75/R17 for 33K off the lot same day!

I LOVE IT.

If you purchase, have the transmission / boot looked at. Recent problems of '12 JKs popping out of 4th gear. Possiblility of upgraded part for replacement. I could post again once I'm done from at the dearler.

I bought a JK Arctic 6 speed on 12/16/2011. It fits my life style & I love driving it. I plan on keeping it original, so the 3.21 differential is good for me. It's my daily driver, and my 5th Jeep. If you have the resources, I recommend picking one up.

Flew to Denver last Monday and picked up my 2 door winter chill, 6 speed 3.73....put some city miles on it in Denver then drove to Breckenridge and snowboarded for a couple of days then drove 12hrs home. Next day changed the oil, removed yeti footprints and wrangler decals and ordered spidertrax spacers. Really like it so far. The winter chill really changes depending on lighting and conditions. Good times!

How do you remove the footprints and badges?!

What are the chances of ruining the paint job?!

6 speed Arctic JK here. Purchased in November. Just passed 5200 tonight. I've never loved driving like I do now. My wife, a Harry Potter fan, calls my jeep my horcrux.

Best purchase decision I've ever made.

highly recommend it, but I'm a first time jeep owner so don't have a ton to compare to.

I have a 6 speed, white arctic JKU 3.73, with the 730 radio and got the affiliate reward pricing (so MSRP was 37+ but I got it for 1% below invoice). If you have one near you, pick it up. Took me a few weeks to finally get one near by with a manual tranny so if it is to your liking, do it up! Probably wont last long bc a few others i found were gone by the time I wanted to test drive it.

Peeps do it all the time. I'm getting ready to do mine, soon as my Pro Tek stickers arrive. And I wash the mud & road salt off.

Removing decals/stickers

Easiest way to debadge my JK

2 door or 4 door?

If you plan on towing anything or doing much off-roading, you'll probably want to get the 3.73's.

Generally speaking for pricing - check out the 2012 Wrangler Info Thread that is a sticky on this forum. Look at the MSRP prices vs. the invoice pricing. Calculate the invoice pricing for the Wrangler you're looking at. You should get AT A MINIMUM, 1% below the INVOICE price. Most people seem to be getting about 1% - 2%. If you can get more than that, icing on the cake.

^^^ Good advice here. Frankly, I wouldn't buy a Jeep with the 3.21 gears. At least on purpose. That's just me...I know I'm gonna mod, so it'd be foolish to overlook a $50 factory option and pay $1500 to a shop later to get lower gearing.

Are you a member of USAA (you, or immediate family, serve or served in the military)? If so, you can save a TON through their car buying service.

Also, if you join Tread Lightly (see "Vendors" @ top left of page), you can get 1% off the invoice price with that.

I bought my JKU Arctic a week and a half ago. I love it! I'm getting better at the Jeep Wave, it's almost second nature to me.
