Looking for a 5.7 to RACE

Hey everyone!

Im looking for a 5.7 Hemi to race in Northern NJ.

It will be on tape and we will see if the RIPP S/C has what it takes to keep up.

Im preferrably looking for someone with 4.10s and 35s

but ill take any hemi at this point.

any interested parties?

I don't have a hemi to contribute, but would you race a hemi grand Cherokee? It has the same transmission as you, but it wouldn't have 35's or 4.10s

A 6.4 Hemi is going to take your lunch and leave you crying on the play ground.
A 5.7 is gonna walk off from you and leave you listening to that sweet sweet exhaust sound.

I have a vicious, maneating, tire burning 3.8L under the Hood. I'd race ya but I don't wanna embarrass you after you spent all that money on a supercharger.

big talk from someone with no idea what this SuperCharger does. Im putting 320 bhp to the ground.

Please produce a 5.7 or 6.4 and lets find out.

everyone else here is invited to watch. I'll post the when and where when we are ready to go.

Im pretty sure Betty will eat a 5.7. The 6.4 however could be a very different story. But we wont know till we line 'em up and find out.

ps. im a big fan of hemi's but you cannot argue with the output that the pentastar in laying down. I wont mention the horsepower per thousand dollars thing either.

what is it about jeep guys and vettes?

is it in our blood? If you love jeeps, your automaticly love vettes??

I was a vette guy long before the jeep addiction. (2001 coupe)

Maybe we are just guys who like the best cars (the vette is the best car on earth) and the best trucks (JK)

What's the proposed race? Are you going from one side of the state to the other, a timed quarter mile, or just going light to light? And crucially, are you racing for pink slips?

Betty is a 6-spd, but with a long throw, im not sure that's a plus. someone in this forum once called the travel on the 6-spd "intergalactic". I thought that was pretty funny.

Race parameters - I have no idea. We should do a few things to really get a serious cross section on the SuperCharger's pro's and cons.

so standing start quarter mile, rolling start, etc.

If anyone's got a suggestion, throw it at us.

Pink slips? No. I dont want to take anyone's truck, and mine is not paid off. LOL

Shows how much I know.

Im talking wheel horse power. 320 is what is made at the wheels. (whp?)

I think betty makes about 450 at the flywheel. Is that bhp?

Take it to a 1/4 mile or 1/8 mile track run it and then post up some pictures of the timeslips.
That will be the only real way to tell how fast it is compared to other Jeeps or cars.

As much as I love vettes and jeeps, they are by a long shot NOT the best. That's where European car come in.

Why would you race a jeep? Do you offroad in a vette? I hope something breaks....

The point is to put this supercharger's money where its mouth is.

we can talk about the power gain all day, a way to see it is to see what it does against a larger displacement V8.

Ok....
What can keep up with a '13 Z06, MSRP $77k, for under $100k?

Enough of this european vs. domestic stuff highjacking my thread.

We are talking SuperCharged 3.6 vs 5.7 or better here. Take the riffraff elsewhere

Sorry, it has to be addressed when somone starts talking smack about an American icon.

Not to mention where do you really think this thread is going to go?

With a bit of luck, to someone with a Hemi-powered JK stepping up to race PieFace's supercharged JK.

Where? On the street?
Here is a JK on 40s with a 6.1 running a 15.0 Krazy House Customs: 6.1l Hemi Wrangler JK Drag by krazyhousecustoms - Car Videos on StreetFire
Pretty fast considering what it is.

Still TBD, I think.

I can understand drivers of Hemi conversions being reluctant to take him up on his offer, it would be pretty galling to have $10K+ of brand new engine embarrassed by a standard engine with a couple of feet of extra pipe welded to it.

Sorry but there is no substitute for displacement and torque. While the 3.6 with a blower might get close or best the HP numbers of a stock 5.7 The Hemi makes tons more torque and that is what it takes to move the pig we call JK. The 6.1 and over strokers will wamp up on that blown 3.6 and lets not forget you can put a blower on the Hemi as well and then the sky is the limit.
All the drag racing talk aside for most practical uses of a JK the thing you want and need for bigger tires and trail use is torque and the v8 has it in spades off idle to max rpm over the v6.
