My father uses a set of these with the saddles on a roof rack. It bolts to the body, I know they have racks for softtops, but his is a hard top.

I have an old towne kayak. I use the roll-bars.When it is too cold to kayak usually can't get to the rollbars because of the big top-but replaced that for a half top. My kayak weighs about 30-40 pounds.

When I looked into a roof rack/light bar or anything like that to carry it, it just didn't make sense to spend the money for the carrier when I can strap it to the roll bars.

So I'm currently facing the same problem, I have two Kayaks that I need to move from my old house to my parents place, (I'm currently facing a storage shortage.) I don't really have the option of attaching the Kayaks to my roll bars because of the distance and weather I'll be facing during transportation. Did you ever find an answer to your problem?

I had a Garvin wilderness rack on my 99 tj and also had hully rollers and mako saddles. it was the perfect set up.

I sold my tj two years ago and just bought a new 2010 rubicon last weekend. I've been researching racks all day and keep going back to the garvin system I had before.

There are quite a few options out there for us kayakers.
