Looking for a new top. Bikini/brief top

Hey guys. First ever post. Here is my question. I own a 2008 Sahara 4dr with freedom top. Looking for a brief/bikini top. I bought the smittybuilt brief top and window channel. Well I put it on and it didn't cover the trunk area! And I want something I can take on and off easy. This was not easy with the no drill window channel. Help ! What should I do? In jersey I can't leave top off all the time. Or it will flood

I have a Bestop Bikini and like your's it only covers the people. I don'y know about Smittybuilt but mine has screw posts that attach through the same brackets my soft top latches to on the windshield.
Another option is a Spiderweb Shade because they can be left on even when you put the top on. They have different stiles that either cover just the fron seats, the front and back seats, or they even have one that goes all the way to the back. The Spiderweb is not water proof though.
I also have a cover to put on when the weather looks bad.

Welcome to the forums!

I have the Bestop Trektop NX which is a full soft top, but if you are looking for just a cover to protect from light rain and sun I would suggest this Bestop Safari Top. The Trektop has a built in Safari Top as one of its components so I have some experience with it.

Bestop 52581-35 - Bestop® Header Safari Bikini® Tops for 07-09 Jeep® Wrangler Unlimited JK 4 Door - Quadratec

You will need this to install it.

Bestop 51243-01 - Bestop® Header Windshield Channel for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

It is not 100% protection from rain but it will keep passengers dry until you get out of the rain. It is great in the sun though. Keeps you in the shade but still allows the "top off" feeling. It's is easy to use as well and can be folded up and stuffed behind the rear seat if you want to go truly topless.

I'm guessing that none of these tops are easy to take off.?But these are my best options I'm thinking. I might just keep the one I have and learn to make it work.

Attachment 138406

Attachment 138407I have the Besttop trektop NX, it breaks down to a bikini top, tough to put on the first time but is easy later on. Take the back and side windows out and you have a bikini. Have a hardtop also.

What about us hard toppers looking for a soft top? Will I need to make any modifications to accommodate a new soft top, or will it just fit right on? I'm tired of taking the hard top off and putting it back on when days of rain is predicted.

Well I need a soft top bad. I was putting the hard top back on Monday and the back glass started opening, shifting my balance. I dropped it - not too hard but enough to put some tiny cracks in rear corners of the top. Nothing I can't hide with some touch up paint but it was a lesson learned. I want an easy to remove/put back on soft top for warm months, and the hard top for colder months.

The only thing you have to "add" to the Jeep for a soft top is either the bow mounts that go on the roll cage or the mounts that hold the read bar for if your going for a TrekTop. The door surrounds just screw on with big plastic headed screws and the rear retainer just clips to the body.

My Jeep came with a hard top.

Here is what I got ASAP Bestop. Hard Top went off within 1st week. And yes you have to get the soft top windshield bar for an extra $50.00.
