Looking for A Used JK

Jeeps o boy do I love them!!!! And am proud to say that I am ready to be an owner! I have gone out with friends who belong to jeep clubs and driven on the street with them plenty of times. In fact I took a road trip from chicago to denver in a 2dr sport.

So getting down to business I can spend roughly 20,000 on a new Wrangler new meaning new to me. This means I can probably go as high as 22,000 sticker and argue the price down.

I live in Chicago IL and definitely want to get a Rubicon. There are a number of them in the state and surrounding states mainly 2007 models which im fine with. The issue I am stuck with and contemplating over and over is when I go shopping for them I always find the 2dr and 4dr 2007 rubicons to be about the same price and inside my price zone but the 2dr have an average of about 40,000 miles on them while the 4dr has a lot more somewhere around 70,000.

I am going to own this Wrangler for a LONG LONG time as I am in college and as all college kids know consistently broke or in debt. I go to school in colorado specifically boulder.

The reason I would want a 4dr is that this wrangler will be with me for a long time and the extra space would probably be nice considering I like to hall a bunch of buddies up into the mountains to go skiing. The reason I wouldnt want one is Im not sure what happens to JK when they start to age and sense mine will be with me for a long time the miles will most certainly pile up.

The reason I would want a 2dr is that in my price range I can get a Rubi with a lot less miles on it and age it with my own wear and tear. The reason I dont is the same as why I want a 4dr in that the 2dr are seriously lacking in cargo space to the point of me just taking one friend with and taking out the back seat so we can fit all of our crap.

What do you guys think I should go for considering this will be my DD and my off roader for a long time to come.

Any and all comments are welcome thanks in advance.

Welcome.. both options are great...you pretty much answer your own questions with each explanation you gave for wanting this or that... if you feel you are gonna have buddies with you a lot then get the 4..if you want the 2 door rubicon with less miles go with that..it's gonna end up being a personal choice and you will love either way you go with it!

What's the downside of having so many miles? Like what if anything happens to a wrangler when it ages? Does it start to drive or act different at 100,000 miles

if you maintain the jeep properly it will last a long time, well over 100,000 miles

I have a 98 cherokee with around 160,000 miles and it runs as good as when i purchased it with 60,000...i know it's not a wrangler but its a jeep and they are built to last

My 97 has ooooo140k miles on it and other than a day on the trail and I really mess something up it runs great. Keep in mind it doesnt have AC and i've hercuulined the inside, all cosmetic...other than the AC, i ride with the top down way to often to worry about the ac. So mileage isnt a real worry there.
As for when to buy, i would wait until labor day weekend, all dealerships everywhere offer great deals on new and used cars. The end of the year is a good time to buy too.
Hope this helps. enjoy
