looking for grill mesh/guard advice

I'm looking to add some sort of mesh protection behind/between the factory slot grill. Seems like a lot of options out there ranging from super cheap to really pricey. I was wondering what advice people have in regards to what you get for your money. I don't want to spend too much but I also don't want junk. If it makes any difference, I plan on someday painting the mesh so its not just black or silver. I think green mesh behind a black grill would lime awesome.
Thanks for your help.

I did the plastic gutter guard version on both my JK's and it held up just fine. Total cost in parts is about $20, took about an hour to do it from start to finish.

I like what folks have done in fabricating their own with different materials, but the rugged ridge is the way to go IMHO. It's one sheet that goes across, has an extruded look which I prefer, and there isn't any issues after the fact.

Ours is original black now, but we plan to paint it Blue sometime soon. Paint is in the garage waiting for the rain to go away.

Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, gutter guard or the rugged ridge guard were the two top choices on my list before posting this, I think I'm going to spring for the rugged ridge setup. Thanks again.
