Looking for info on Aries bumper

I haven't been able to decide on a new front bumper. I was originally looking at the RR XHD bumper but I decided I don't like the stubby bumpers. I was searching through old posts and found the one about the Aries bumper at the beginning of the year. I like the look and think if I pair it with some Hella Black Magic 500's it would look really good on my yellow jeep. Who actually ended up getting it and can I see some pictures. How has it held up and are you happy with your purchase.

I was able to find it for $577 on Ebay with free shipping. Seems like a pretty good deal.

I am thinking about getting the same bumper and matching it with the rear also. I am thinking of taking the side bars off and using the existing holes for lights.

I like mine ALOT. Chances are it's from the same seller you're looking at. It's been on for a little more than a week now.

Looks great. I don't know if I'll have enough cash to get lights right away. Is it easier to install the lights before putting the bumper on or can it be done later without too many problems?

No problem at all putting lights on after, two tabs on the winch guard. Piece of cake.

A bit of a heads up though. I don't see this bumper as a true recovery bumper. There are two mounting points on the center "stubby" left and right for tow hook mounts (about 3-4" in from the "end wings", nothing for D-shackles. It's fine for me, I'll get a winch eventually but heavy recovery is not in my future so I'm fine with it.

I really DO like the looks of this bumper and will get the rear pretty soon.

Are you able to take the bars off or do they need to stay on?

Bars can come off. It's a 6 piece modular: 1 stubby center, 2 end caps, 1 winch guard and 2 fender guards.

All told weighs about 110-120 lbs. Mounts right up to the stock mounting plates. Didn't sag the front end much, if any.

I like the bars but I think lights would be a good replacement for them.

A bank of lights would look good. You have a bolt hole (10mm) on each end cap and 2 on the stubby on each end where the fender guards mount.

If you do it, post pics.

This bumper definently caught my eye, so now I'm comparing it to Rampage Products 86510 - Rampage Products Front Recovery Bumper for 07-12 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec which I had decided on. Thoughts between the 2? Winch will be pretty far down the list to get, but I wanna get some fog lights on ASAP

I just finished putting on the same bumper they look great. What lights did you use on the corners, I dont want to buy ones that wount fit. I had to drill holes to adjust the height of my factory lights, the ones in the bumper were 1 inch off of the adjuster screws, did you have the same issue?

Twisted Freak -They are 540's and I like them a lot. Excellent lighting out front well past the headlight range. I have them spray slightly to the sides which helps the periphery a lot as well. Pricey -yes, but highly recommended.

I know light bars are now deemed "tacky" but am looking into a bar as well, will definately hang PIAA's on it when the time comes. (I drive in the mountains after dark quite a bit - more light is a good thing)

Haven't been on the forum for awhile. I'll gets some pics of the rear shortly. They'll be cell phone pics, but it should help if you're still interested.

Sorry to voodoo zombie res this thread. I just put on a set of set of these and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about corner and brush guard lights. I've been tearing apart Quadratec's and 4WD catalogs with little to no help other than the Warn 3.5" wireless lights, but I hate the idea of wireless because I want to run different switches for back and front lights and don't want 90 billion different remotes floating around. I'd like to run a nice pillar mounted switch panel.

i also like the looks of the Aries bumper, just as others said it doesnt have the D rings on it. now if your not going to be doing anything that will need them then its all good.

Does anybody have a pics of the ones with the none painted center with the black sides?? i think its a mean looking front. im also curious on the quality.

There's two bolt on spots on the front and rear to allow you to bolt on D Rings or Tow Hooks (pics attached).

From the research that I did prior to buying them, it's not a heavy recovery bumper, but they're certainly not made front light weight materials by the feel of them.

I bought the Aries Stubby aluminum bumper a couple months ago. The packaging was inadequate, and it arrived with two corners sticking through the single layer cardboard box. The powdercoat finish was chipped in two places, and the corner was dinted, so back it went for a replacement. This time I asked for a raw aluminum, so I could powder coat it on attival, lessening the chance of getting chipped in transit. That arrived, and I spent days applying a brushed finish to the aluminum, which I would then get clear coated. One side of the winch tray was flush, and the other side overlapped by 1/4", so I gouund that off. I spent hours sanding out all their grinder marks where they toughted up their welds and weld splatter. I then tried dry fitting the parts before sending for clear coating, and low and behold, the winch plate sits 15 degrees off from being parallel to the bumper winch tray, and only 4 of 8 bumper bolds line up. On closer inspection, the welded bracket for one of the fog lights was not parallel to the front of bumper. Back to the store again, asking for their opinion. They said there was no way I would succeed in mounting a winch, or the tow hooks, because of the bumper & winch plate not being welded to the same angles. There were only 2 holes in the bumper instead of 4 to mount the winch, and those two did not line up to the winch plate. The holes in the bumper for the tow hooks do not line up with the winch plate either. I am at a loss. The store is going to try to see what Aries will do, but said they had trouble getting them to agree to replace the first shipped bumper, so they are uncertain what the response will be now.
In the mean time, I am now in the market for a good quality manufactures stubby bumper that is on the light weight side, on which all the welding is done correctly, with all the parts properly alligned. Does anyone have any experiance with Fab Four, Hanson, or Rugged Ridge stubby bumpers? Any other suggestions?

I've just ordered an Aluminum one, might be a bad decision, will see.

Before that, I've been looking into the Metal Cloak modular bumper, they told me the mid-width with winch guard is about 75lbs, so it should be lighter with stubby ends. They once a while have free shipping but charge tax for CA (one reason I didn't buy it and I want to do Aluminum).
