I use my Jeep as a rock crawler (and daily driver for now). I have been looking at the various high clearance bumpers: Poison Spyder BFH, Savvy LHT, Genright Ultra Clearance are my front runners for now. I like Savvy and Genright most as they sink the winch between the frame rails.
Anyone here run any of these or similar high clearance setups (ie I know Crawler Concepts also does one and there have to be others )? Any hints, feedback, pictures?
(I am going to go with one of the body mount tire carriers - GenRight, EVO, Poison Spyder - or just keep my spare ratcheted in cargo where it is).
I chose Metalcloak's Frame Built design. Removes the crash bar and allows my Warn PowerPlant to sit between the frame rails. Can be customized differently based on your desires.
As mine is set up...
For the rear I'm using OR Fab's spare carrier which I understand is back in production with a JCR bumper...
I am partial JCR. At the moment I have a Vanguard full width bumper I can see it getting gut down once I get some flat fenders. The Mauler looks like it would fit the bill.
VKS Fab just launched the new shorty V3 and it looks amazing. Personally, my favorite bumper ever is the VKS Prerunner. Both of these require frame modification, but it looks like you were already planning on that.
My build is LCOG, so this is the stage I need to be very conscious of weight. I am largely looking at aluminum up top, but these high clearance bumpers are so minimal there may not be a ton of weight savings between aluminum and steel to warrant the higher cost of aluminum. Need to look into that. Another benefit of aluminum tho - can run it unpainted and not worry about rust like steel.
I was initially on the fence over the whole cutting the crash bars thing, but then I thought about it. Stock rear bumper for example is...what maybe 5 pounds of plastic - the crash bar is the "real" protection, not the stock bumper. The aftermarket high clearance bumpers become (or build into their design) a better "crash bar".
That front stock crash bar is an absolute waste. Mine is already caved in, and has mangled the wiring harness on my Rubicon disconnect. So I need to cut it out anyhow.

I ended up going with the Body Armor mid stubby. Pretty happy with it and it has survived 2 salty Ontario winters. It’s sits high enough that you can cot the crash bar off but you need their lower skid to protect the swaybar disconnect.
