If you no longer have one, I think you have to go through the dealer because they have to use the VIN to order you a new one. I'm not 110% on that.

There ain't no more free lunch's--it's a dealer provision !!

You can always have a key made at a key shop, but

It will only onlock your door--nothng else !!

My dealer wanted $260.00 me thinks. Been so long now, the shock has warn off and the recollection of their quote has gotten foggy. It was $160.00 for the key blank and additional funds to cut the key and program it into the anti theft system.

Programming the key is easy and instructions are included in the packet. They also have the keys with the built in remote. Any locksmith can cut the key for you once you get the blank. $17.95 for since I have my own key machine, but figure on a couple of bucks more to have the key cut at a locksmith.

I had seen that but in my owner's manual it stated that inorder for me to program the new key i first needed to have both the original keys to do it. unless thats not true, if so i'll order a key for it today

I believe that only one key is needed to be able to program others. All keys must be present at the time of programming as each is reprogrammed during the process. That was my interpretation of the directions. So, if one key is lost but one is still available, two additional keys can be programmed. The problem is when you have lost both keys. That would require reprogramming at the dealer.

I had one made at a locksmith programed with the chip was $70 with out the unlock and remote start buttons on it. I also got a door open key to hide on the outside so i could hide the chipped key on the inside.

Thanks for this information. I wouldn't likely have thought of it and this is very useful. I'm going to set mine up this way.
