Loud pop heard from passenger seat

Today, I heard a loud pop come from my 2012 wrangler altitude. I was driving at a steady speed with the windows up. The sound came from inside the cabin near the passenger seat. As soon as I heard it, I turned my head in that direction.

any thoughts?

It could be the seat adjustment wasn't completely locked in place.

It was loud, like someone taking a knife and popping an empty 2 liter soda bottle. Could the seat adjustment do that?

Possibly speakers but it did sound like it came from the passenger seat somewhere and I only heard it once. My husband heard it once also.

Maybe a rock hit the undercarriage?

It definitely came from inside the cabin somewhere in the vacinity of the passenger seat.

My husband also heard it. He had the windows down so the sound was not as loud for him as it was for me. I had the windows rolled up.

Did you throw a weight from a tire? It sounds like it is like a large rock hitting the car. Every once and a while the stick on ones will pop off and it scared the hell out of me when it happened to me lol.

Window regulator. Watch the ones on that side, they should fail soon.

I've heard this sound a few times too, it sounds like a rock smacking the windshield hard but I never see the rock and no chips appear on the windshield. It's confusing when it happens.

Someone mentioned seat adjustment to me. I did some "googling" and found an old service bulletin for 99-04 Cherokees that said "customer may experience popping sound coming from the area of either front seat frame."

Wondering if this could also be an issue with some JKs

The suggested repair is to take to dealership and have the parts of the seat track lubricated.

I'll keep listening for this noise and see if that might be my problem.

What you can do is get white lithium grease and treat the seat tracks. That's all the dealer will do and it will save you a trip.
