not just American made...but American made for the entire world. not many american plants today can still boast that they make a product and have been exporting it to the rest world since WWII
jeep is about to lose a chunk of its American made fleet. the patriot/compass replacement will be made in mexico
IMO, if it's not designed/engineered by an American company, it's not an American product. Honda/Toyota/Nissan/Aura/Lexus/Infiniti are Japanese, Audi/BMW/Mercedes are German... doesn't matter where they are assembled.
quality tends to be best when the company makes their vehicles in their home country. not sure if it has to do with company culture being reflective of the country's culture, or maybe better corporate oversight when the plant is closer to home. who knows.
Japanese quality is best when made in Japan
German quality is best when made in Germany
South Korean quality is best when made in South Korea
....and Land Rover, well they're just shit wherever they're made lol
I have found that in more recent years though, that American vehicle quality tends to be better when made in Canada and in some cases, gasp, Mehicoh
Surprisingly (not mentioned here), BMW is the US' largest exporter of automobiles. So buying a Beemer is kind of like buying American ...
