I have done this also. I even used rope as a core and made the dog a leash and the kids some bracelets and key chains. Its is kind of fun.

Yep! i made myself a bracelet too.

i made each strap out of one solid piece of cord, like 11 feet or so. I figure its two fold. They make good grab handles, and in an emergency theyre rope! Which is why i cut the cord as few times as possible. I can unravel an entire 3-strap handle into over 30' of rope in about 5 minutes.

Ive worn a survival strap for a little over a year now, its kinda neat to learn how to make them myself.

I have all sorts of plans for other things to make. Rifle sling for one. Seems to be a perfect thing to take out hunting with me.

I also made a nice coil to keep in my hunting pack. Never know when rope will come in handy.
