Maintenance???

Hi All,

I just hit 1,000 miles on my 2010 Rubi Unlimited, should I change the oil now or wait until 3,000? Also should I do synthetic?

I've heard many different versions of what is best, just hoping to get info from those who know.

thanks!

Alda

Wait until the computer says do it. It will message you about 2300-2500 miles for the first change

The owner's manual says that under normal working conditions change at 6000 mile intervals. No need to change the oil early because this engine doesn't require it. My guess is that the oil change reminder is set at the factory to 3000 mile interval and comes on 500 miles before the set point (at 2500 miles). When my jeep was new before I took delivery, I had the service department set it to 6000 miles so that it comes on at 5500 miles. There are circumstances where it may be triggered early my guess would be depending on maybe RPMs and or distance traveled in 4 low or such but mine has not triggered early in 30,000 miles of travel. Like clockwork it comes on 500 miles before the set point.

Put your Jeep in park.

Turn the ignition to "on" but don't crank the engine

push the gas pedal 3 times all the way down quickly

turn the key to off

if I remember, that's how it's done. I've got an 07 so I don't have that feature

I got an email notice the day I got my jeep. Etronic service set up for first free oil change in 3 months.

Ill take them up on it,, then do the rest myself. I like oil changes,, now even easier with low profile ramps!

Just get under the sucker and ur there baby!!!!!!!!!

I will prob do an amsoil , or Royal Purple, Mobile One.

As for break-in, I disregarded the dealer saying there's no need to change the oil before the 3K/6K mark. Did it at 1K. But I baby my stuff, and plan to keep it for the long haul. Then changed it again at 5 and 10K, and went to Mobil 1. I don't believe in running synthetic on a newer engine. I'm still an old school engine builder like that Mark W.
P.S. welcome to the forum, and as forum troll, I have to say- this thread has been covered to DEATH- please use a search next time- Mark W.

I switch all mine over to AMSOIL right after I get them Some don't care for the synthetic but it is the best thing out there. It is like comparing a bearing ( sphere ) to a Egg not round in monocles
