How do you know they didn't buy 6 quarts of oil and use the receipt to document an oil change on 5 different cars even though the oil got returned as soon as they scanned the receipt? At some point the dealer just has to believe the customer and trust that they didn't screw them.

aren't there ways to tell that you NEVER changed your oil. i've been in for warranty work before and my maintanence records have never been questioned. i do all my own work, and although i dont keep receipts, i do keep a log. i am with oilwell on this one, you can pretty much fake everything. i can keep a fake log, i can photoshop pictures, i can use the same receipt for 10 different vehicles. bottom line is we are in the 21st century, these arent vehicles from the 50s and 60s, dealer recommendations for oil changes arent 3k anymore. unless my vehicle is showing signs of neglect, they should assume it is being maintained and have that be enough.

yes, pull the valve cover, there will be sludge. PCV, air filter. You can usually see telltale signs when you inspect or rack a neglected vehicle.

I do the same. Since it takes 6, I buy a case of quarts when it's on sale then buy the 5 quart jugs. I also keep a supply of 3 to 4 filters in stock.

Sadly ethanol can do the same to a serviced engine
