They are impossible to find now. Does anyone know if Jeep will be making anymore this year??? They stopped manufacturing them in late Jan.

Meh, truthfully it's really easy to duplicate all of those features aftermarket--the hood decal, the black wheels, even the yeti themed decals. Only the interior trim (seat stitching, instrument cluster, etc) would be a challenge.

It of course wouldn't "really" be an arctic, but still . . . . I guess my point is get a jeep in the color you want with the SUBSTANTIVE features you want (LSD, 3.73s, power windows, etc) and then make it your own.

I debadged mine recently. Prefer that to all the hoopla of the "special" editions. You don't need to pay extra for stickers & stitching to make a Jeep distinctive, IMO.

Agreed, but if you want it the exact same (less seats/gauges) its cheaper to by the Arctic Edition then to buy a Sahara and put make it the same from factory.

Maybe of you want it EXACTLY the same, but otherwise, I doubt it.

Post up a list of everything that makes the arctic an arctic, and I bet we could provide links to aftermarket options for just about everything and, in total, it would be cheaper than cost added by the arctic package.

That said, I'm happy with my mountain edition. If somebody really wants a special edition, they're welcome to get it. I'm just saying that--if one that fits can't be found--they can be "made."

I really liked the "idea" of the Arctic, and yeah the whole "Special Edition" thing is appealing, on a surface level. Especially to me, as I've never owned a JEEP before.

But I realized a few things:

1. There were a few things I didn't like about the Arctic.
2. I could replicate all the things I did like (except for the Yeti gauges. Those are cool and hard to fake) for way under $4K.
3. After spending time on this forum, the big thing I learned was that EVERY Jeep has the potential to be a "Special Edition".

So now I'm doing my own Yeti thing, plasti-dipping my wheels, and then adding all the mods I want to do, MY way.

It won't be a true Arctic, and I'm not putting them down. I love them and they inspired me. But mine will be unique to me. (when I'm a bit further along)

I'm not talking aftermarket, meant ordered from the factory.

I looked at doing this. Got my JKU for 37,500 (cdn$) and had a Sahara the same priced out was a hair under 40,000. Both were manual Things to add (some are options on some saharas, some are not)

Black rims
BFG mud terrains
Rubicon suspension (less ED)
Taillight guards
Fuel door
White trim interior accents
Nav
Hood decal
Heated seats

And that wasn't including the different seats or badging.

From the factory, it's no doubt cheaper--but that's because Jeep designs it that way.

But aftermarket will be cheaper still. And nobody can tell the difference between the Mopar hood decal and the identical duplicate from PixelDecals.

Agreed. But what about putting in a better suspension, and all the other things? Buddy went to look at getting the decal from mopar. $400!!!!! Insane!

Plus the seats and the overall look of the arctic I love. And the other thing to consider is if the person does order the stuff aftermarket, but does not have the place/time/knowledge to do an install of these extras and has to take it to a company to get it installed, that's also costs more. Labor sucks.

appeared to be a limited run indeed. i found one winter chill 2-door about 25 miles away. when i saw my first one back in nov. i was really looking at ram expresses. went up to the dealer lot one sunday, then bam, there was a silver 2-door sitting there. i never thought i would be back in a jeep, but test drove it, and that was it. had to have it. it just slapped me in the face and i said "now that is different".

I don't believe the arctic has an improved suspension over why comes stock on a Sahara. Didn't jeep began putting the gas "rubicon shocks" in saharas too in 2011? Might be off on that, but I thought so . . .

Yeah, that hood decal is $60 from PixelDecals. That's the type of pricing difference I was alluding too earlier. Buying just about anything through Mopar is a terrible idea.

Labor is a necessary evil sometimes, but for the most part the stuff that makes up special editions that can't be "optioned" from the factory on other models (decals, side steps, wheel color, gas cap covers, slush mats, tail light guards, etc) are very small potatoes and can be done at home by a willing (even if inexperienced) DIYer. It'd be the seats and the instrument cluster that you'd have to just forgo unless you were willing to go the extra mile.

Still though, like I said I've got no issue with special editions--I have one--this is really just to make clear that if somebody loves "the look" of one but can't find one, chances are they can come very close pretty easily aftermarket. Probably cheaper too.

The Sahara has a heavy duty suspension with gas charged shocks. The rubicon has a performance suspension with gas charged shocks. That's out of the 2012 book from dealers. What exactly the difference is? I'm not 100%. Maybe springs etc???

Just different ways of saying the same thing I'd expect. There's never been any rhyme or reason on spring rates other than 4 doors tend to get heavier rates than 2 doors, but that's it.

Hmmm interesting. Well I agree with you that if you go aftermarket, you should be able to do it cheaper. But if you order it from factory, it will cost you more.

Well and again, from the factory it's an "official" arctic, and that has value. You could dupe the look after the fact, that's all.
