Thumbs up Man i love that engine

As per the manual and break in....
I noticed I had 80 miles on her, so at a couple outta the way streets I accelerated (moderately) Within the local speed limit
I have had v-8's that didnt jump like my jeep.
Man she is a blast. I could see that motor in a few other cars and they would be trouble for speeding tickets.

I know what you mean... Just so you know, the engine IS used in some vehicles that you would REALLY be tempted to get into some trouble in... Charger, Challenger, etc.

The fact this is an option in a full size Ram truck speaks volumes. They even rate it at pulling over 5,000 pounds. It must really kick but in a Wrangler. Of course I wouldn't know as I have been unable to sell my Mustang for the past six weeks. But as soon as it sells . . .

I came outta a 06 inline 4 to my new JKU and the first time I hit the gas I was really impressed by how she took off. Now I have had an eclipse and an evo 8 and this thing will out do the eclipse before the turbo was added. Obviously the evo 8 was faster but man for a truck I'm happy as hell. And I can run over curbs, boulders and any evo or eclispe that makes me mad

Yeah I know what ya mean. I used to barely ever use 1st gear, until I put the 35's on. That thing would scoot on stock tires!

Love my 3.6. Passing is fun. It's not punch-in-the-kidneys acceleration like some cars I have had, but it gets loud and you are going faster. 1200 miles on mine so far.

Except for the occasional high speed merge when turning into traffic, I guess I never really "test" the engine. Then again, that is probably a good thing as I don't have too many complaints with it. It is a little weak down low...off idle....but I'm also driving a +4000 pound vehicle.

I try to set my cruise at 69 on the highway to save fuel. But I've noticed that if not paying attention (and not using cruise), I can easily being doing 80 no problem. I've yet to try to pass on a 2 line highway to test its power.

Smash the pedal and let it rev and it will impress.

The 3.8 was a fine enough engine. If you want to dog something, dog the 42RLE tranny.

I hope the 3.6 ends up being a reliable engine. I know there are head issues but I think it much less than what is perceived on here. The 3.6 engine is smooth all the way up to redline. I have driven the 3.8 wrangler and there is no comparison. The 3.8 was a rubicon with 4.10 and mine is a 2013 with 3.73. Huge difference in off the line and passing acceleration. I did not buy the Jeep for its power, but I would have never been happy with the 3.8.

My wheelin buddy has an 13, JKUR, V6, auto, 3.73 gears on 35's. I have an 06, TJ, I6, 6sp, 4.88 gears, on 35's.
I beat him outta the hole but he caught me real quick and then just started pulling away. The a@# h^&* then had the audacity to tell me that he still had some left.
What are friends for....lolololololol

Yeah..I think unless you have driven the new 3.6 V6...its hard to comprehend how much more power it has than the 3.8. My son has a 2001 z71 with the 5.7 V8. His truck feels torquier but from the line mine will easily pull a way from the start.

I had a newer charger as a rental for a few weeks. It would get 31 hiway and got up to speed pretty good. I was surprised at how different it was from my JK. It accelerated so easy where as my JK, it seems I have to push the skinny pedal much harder. I guess it's the springs behind the pedal?

Work had some rental town and country's with the pentastar back around December. My Jeep seemed faster and more responsive. Could come down to the 5 speed trans in the Jeep vs. whatever transaxle the van had. I was expecting a little rocketship on my hands but was let down. Don't get me wrong, still drove fine and felt very refined in the van but I was underwhelmed after hyping myself up.

Mine is fun to scoot around in, two doors, three pedals, no aftermarket weight additions yet.

It's 4.10s/33s so I get to run up to 5th gear pretty quick, unless I want to wring it out, and I hardly ever do.

All that is nice as long as it lasts. They pretty much bet the farm on this here Jesus motor. They have to get a good run on it while they tinker around with whatever is next.

I was actually planning on getting an 06 but right as I started to look into it, I found out that 12s were coming with pentastars and a 5 speed auto and that pretty much made the decision for me. Especially since the JK drivetrain is actually pretty well set-up and wranglers hold their value so well that used one's really aren't as cheap as one would think.

Probably came with a special 2.5:1 rear end to keep fuel economy at the max so renters don't bitch about fuel economy.

I was moving one on the lot today, and it really is impressive the amount of power it has in the full size...

I love it too.

It is smooth and quite, has good low RPM torque and builds power happily to redline. Not a brute by any means but the description I read in a review sums it up well... The power is "adequate". I agree.

I've been really surprised with mine. When I first go it, I found myself driving it easy and rarely going over 3000rpm. I kind of thought the engine was weak. Then I decided to try it out and wound it up good. Man was I impressed. This thing really pulls from 3500 up and doesn't seem to let up when approaching the redline. I find it nice that I can easily merge into traffic on the highway even at 80mph. I have also found that it seems to make better mileage when you run it a bit hard. The mileage really sucks when you try and lug it around in too high a gear.

I am happy with mine even tho it has 3.21's with automatic and 33" tires. I think some just run better then others.

I was really kinda disappointed until it hit 3k miles. Everything seems to be working better. The engine is making more power and getting better mileage, and the auto trany is shifting better as well. It seems to be driving better and better at 3,500 miles.
